And the reports say these doctors may lose their medical licenses and the officers may face discipline but that's the problem. This man was illegally tortured and the people responsible shouldn't be losing their jobs, they should be going to prison.

You should keep a copy of this in your glovebox. Don't just whip it out on a whim but if you think you really need it.

Example, if you were doing 20 over the limit and the cops pulls you over to give you a speeding ticket and is going to write you at 13 over... maybe you don't bust his chops and just take the ticket.

If you're going the speed limit or in your own neighborhood and you got pulled over for what seems like no reason and the cop is asking a lot of unreasonable questions and you don't understand why... hand him this and have a lawyer on speed dial:

Based on most of the comments above about license plates... Most of you do not realise that some new patrol cars automatically scan ALL license plates within the field of view of the onboard cameras.

If some plates come up with errors, obscurred, expired, warrant, etc. You WILL get some attention from the officer as it gets flagged by the software....
Big Brother IS watching, just dont have anything to worry about and you are fine.

I got pulled over for my tags being 5 Months expired and the officer heard my wife on the cell phone apologize because she forgot. He let me off with a warning and I had my new stickers the next day (with the late penalty of course).

It's not a reading failure, that would be a failure to clarify. Regardless, of being on a public road or not, they need a consent to search or a warrant. "Making Up" probably causes seems to be the most prevalent thing though.

Several states allow a vehicle exception to the warrant requirement.

Automobile Exception to the Warrant Requirement

An example of this principle may be seen with the so-called automobile exception to the Constitution's search-warrant requirement. Under the automobile exception, states may allow the warrantless search of an automobile, except for the trunk, if the police officer reasonably believes that the vehicle holds evidence of a crime. The U.S. Supreme Court has determined that this exception is not a violation of the Fourth Amendment because drivers have a "reduced expectation of privacy" and because a vehicle is inherently mobile. This reduced expectation of privacy also allows police officers with Probable Cause to search a car to inspect drivers' and passengers' belongings that are capable of concealing the object of the search, even if there is no proof that the driver and passenger were engaged in a common enterprise. Wyoming v. Houghton, 526 U.S. 295, 119 S. Ct. 1297, 143 L. Ed. 2d 408 (1999).
However, states are not required to adopt the automobile exception. The New Hampshire Supreme Court, for example, ruled that all warrantless searches are unreasonable except for a group of well-defined such searches, and this group does not include warrantless Automobile Searches (State v. Sterndale, 139 N.H. 445, 656 A.2d 409 [1995]). Thus, in New Hampshire, a police officer may not base the warrantless search of a vehicle on the mere fact that the place to be searched is a vehicle. New Hampshire, therefore, provides expanded protections under the Fourth Amendment.
Conversely, a state may not allow the search of any vehicle without reasonable suspicion. A vehicle search that is conducted in the absence of reasonable suspicion would be an infringement of guaranteed Fourth Amendment protection, and a court would strike down such an infringement as unconstitutional. A state law may not diminish the scope of the automobile exception by authorizing a warrantless search of an entire vehicle following a traffic stop in which the driver is issued a citation for speeding. Check your state laws, but I suggest any time you're pulled over you turn your camera to record and prop it up against the parking brake pointing towards you and the door. You can inform the officer he's being filmed to comply with state laws if it applies.

Cops can be a mixed bag. I got pulled over driving my sister to practice one day. Cops said she matched the description of a girl who was on the run. BS - they were sitting in a parking lot and saw a blonde in the right seat from 50 yards away. No way could they make out anything other than hair color. Checked our IDs, ran my plates, let me go.

On a positive note, I was pulled over by 2 cruisers from the Sheriffs. 65 in a 45 on a tight county road. I just pulled over and waited for them to pull a U-Turn. I had no license, wallet, etc. I was driving an M6 not registered to me, 23 yrs old. They ran me, gave only a verbal warning to slow down, and sent me on my way in under 5 minutes. Looking back, I'm surprised they gave a young guy that big of a break. I've managed to sly my way out of 3 speeding tickets so far.

The thing that makes me pissed about Police officers is that a lot of them are such hypocrites. I've had my share number of moving violations/tickets, and yes they were my fault, however that doesn't excuse Police officers to do the same mistakes as I do. Also, I've noticed so many of my friends who are women have been let off in so many traffic violations it's not even funny... /vent

police can pull you over for anything, they can beat you up for anything, they can jail you for anything.

you can always go to court after the fact

but when a cop asks you to do something, you better be thinking real hard if you're willing to put up a fight right then and there and face the consequences.

A family friend of ours once got pulled once at a DUI checkpoint and the officer asked him how many beers he had.

Although he had drank (maybe 1-2 drinks tops over several hours, very responsible guy), he told the officer zero. Because the officer asked him how many beers..not how much alcohol or # of drinks.

Very gutsy move, but the officer let him go lol. He wasn't lying, just answered honestly
