I want to run 16 . But if the cost of tires isn't that much different than 17' then I'll pick 17 because it is easier to find tires for good price. The purpose for me to go 16 is tire price, but it seems only 15 inch will I see a benefit in extreme performance summer tires

I have had 205/55-16 size Kumho Ecsta LE Sport (a very new released tire) mounted on 16x7.5 Kosei K-1's on my Tacoma since last Friday and am very impressed with them...especially in the wet (more like the Hankook RS-2's) Would make an excellent daily driver tire. Very similar in character to Hankook RS-3's but with less grip (being a Max Performance Summer tire not an Extreme performance summer tire using R-compound rubber). For $86 a tire plus $50 dollar rebate they work extremely well and would be an upgrade from the stock rubber. The 215/45-17 size is less than $100 a tire too.
I'd go with those for daily duty on 16x7.5's or 17x8's... wheels over 17" for this car do not make sense to me - adding unsprung mass for no good reason is a waste of $$$...money that would be better spent on better brake pads for track or a lighter exhaust system. |
