Its damn early to be thinking winter, mate!
Anyway, fellow Ontarionian(?) here. I ended up getting Blizzak WS series tire, and some 16" steelies. These tires honestly saved my life on a trip down 401 when the snow was fresh and unplowed. If you're getting new rims though, then feel free to just use your stock wheels with your winter tire. The window's definitely got stuck ALOT during the winter. Sometimes you'll find that you can't operate them properly anymore (lights flashing on the window switches) when they get stuck. You'll need to force the window to fully closed position to get them working again. It's freezing at the lower edge of the window that you should be worried about, not the top edge by the door seal! As for rust proofing, I have no experience with the stuff... I would reccomend it for peace of mind. Me personally, I'm gambling that the factory protection is good enough, coupled with a good underbody wash every other week

So you have been able to do this? Is there a link to the DIY or just a general step by step if it was easy? Or did the dealer do it for you? When the function was turned off did it default to the fully up position or the partially down position it goes to when the door opens?

If you are worried about longevity don't drive in winter. My car is by far one of the worst I have had owned i terms of rust after even one year. Thing is a total shit box. Going to try and avoid this winter because of it.

You are pulling a single wire from the door latch and the window will stay up all the time. Downside is that you don't get an interior light when you open the door because the car does not know the door is open. That is a pain, but not as much as a car full of snow like I had. Rumours are that a new switch has been introduced and come next winter I will tell the dealer that I am still having the issue and hope the part is more than vapourware. found the disable "HOW TO" http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showt...ghlight=window I can see where the logic would leave the window up if it refused to move down, but to have it stay down after it was already down? I miss the logic. Not like it was frozen in place or it would not have come down in the first place. Cant say that me and the Remon (wifes nickname for the car) are looking forward to winter again. As an aside, since we are in winterizing mode and all. While I do not wash the car, I do make a point of taking it to Krown for the oil based undercoat every year. Proof of its effectiveness can be seen by the band of oil that creeps out of all the cars seams and up the panels; the doors and trunk panel have a 2-3" band of rust protector oil around the perimeter. So, while kind of messy, stuff seems to work as advertized. Last edited by NOHOME; 09-11-2013 at 03:27 PM. |

Salt = corrosion rust.
I have been under my car about 100 times with it on the lift probably twice that. Taken more things apart than probably most, thats how I find it when things don't come apart. I have plenty of under body rust. Some surface some like my suspension frames and arms already lost coating and with rust bubbles and parts eaten away. Here is the sway bar sub frame cancer already started. I am not saying the car is rusting apart its just worse than my past cars. I don't see it holding up well long term in my application, my area. Really don't want to get into another debate about something else.
