You're basically running a 30 weight oil in your engine for the track with great results, but you went the opposite direction with the tranny oil ?

Pentosin is an 80w, the owners book says 90w, in between is an 85w.

Generally the harder you drive (ie track) the higher the temp of the gearbox. Oil decreases in viscosity with temperature.

I'd be running an Ester gear oil if I was seeing track time especially with additional power going through the box. What's the Pentosin MTF2 shearing back to? It's only 7.7 cSt @ 100°C where as say Gear300 is 15.2 cSt.
The 86 race series here in NZ are trialing Motul Transoil Expert 10w40 in the box http://www.motul.com/system/product_...pdf?1290086773
