The rep at my dealer's demo day played a brief snippet of poor quality MP3 and it sounded pretty meh - but it was clearly a low bitrate MP3 so I wouldn't take my word as gospel.

My previous WRXs have been mediocre, and I'm pretty spoiled by my current Meridian system, so I have pretty low expectations regardless.

Edit: Quote fail, this was for ShoGun ^

4 door, and absolutely love it. I went to see it to convince myself that I wasn't going to buy it (being a 4cyl Range Rover, and a bit pricey...) but placed an order for almost the exact vehicle they had on the lot (in a different color).

Hehe...you made a good choice. Your ONLY mistake was going to see it in person knowing you'd fall in love with it

You should try Mark Levinson system.

They really are quite good. My mother drives an LS with the Levinson system and it's impressive (especially when you're on a road trip, reclined in the back seats, lol).

It sounded pretty good to me. I turned it up as loud as I felt comfortable with (car engine running, not moving, windows up), and it was only about 50% volume. Sounded pretty crisp to me.

I think the SD card for the Navi is acceptable if Subaru doesn't charge you at all or maybe $20 to update the maps on that card. Kia sent me a nice paper in the mail saying they'd update my maps/firmware on my cars for the low low price of $163 a pop... Must be all that hard labor of plugging in a USB stick and waiting for the automated load... Think I'll pass!

Ha, keep dreaming, if the past is any indicator of the future, that 10 dollar SD can will run you over 200 bucks for updated data. Look how much they want for the updated nav discs from the Subaru kenwood units: http://store.kenwoodusa.com/catalog.php?cat_id=S19/

Oh, trust me I know how much the disc units can run! I'd just like to know when car makers will pull their heads out of their a$$e$ and stop making such proprietary GPS units. In the case of this Subaru unit though, you hit the nail on the head: the SD card is a cheap way to update IF they want they'd do it that way. So yeah, not expecting them to charge fair; however, I will continue to be hopeful. At least someone will figure out how to bittorrent the updates!

Lol yeah, should be a lot easier to transfer data from a card than ripping and reburning a dvd.

Hmm... can't someone just upload the map data? I can't imagine the data to really be locked down
