Just FYI at this point, there is an easy way to dry the interior of a car. No need to buy rice or a real desicant, it's built in to the car. It's called "AC" on the dash, and part of what it does is remove moisture from the interior of the car.

You are wrong #1. Liquids are not good conductors because they are liquid. Distilled water, vegetable oil, and many other liquids are poor conductors. Water is usually thought of as conductive because it suspends other molecules (metals etc.) In solution, thus allowing the transfer of ions. Also look up fishtank computer, they are really cool. Pun intended. You are wrong#2. The sensors do not measure conductivity. I'm pretty sure Subaru/Toyota isn't sticking electrodes in my butt every time I sit down so they can send current through said butt to determine my conductivity. What they are doing is measuring the sum capacitance of the seat and anything on it against a known baseline. The seat uses the same principals as a touchscreen does to determine if something is touching it.

* deionized (DI) water is slightly electrically conductive. The sight conductivity is due to water's ability to self-ionize, forming H3O+ and OH- ions. * how electrostatic capacitance sensors ODS work. humfrz |

That's the circuit being wigged out by the transmitter in the phone. Same reason the airlines ask you to turn them off in the plane.
