Wow
Some of you guys over the pond are so stressed out One say if it's 1k over you want to pay "I'm out" Didn't realise there is so many simler cars to the BRZ over there Don't worry Be happy Look at the pictures It's fantastic looking machine And test drives Have you seen one complaint or negative comment about all the journalists that have drove them These guys are professionals and know what they are talking about so trust them It will be a good car no doubt And if it's 1k more then you want to pay well just wait another fortnight longer only another 2weeks pay I would imagine I've bought three cars in my lifetime without even a drive in them or really cared about the price and never been disappointed in them If you do cancel the dealer will sell yours instantly to the next person who walks into the showroom guaranteed and then you will be mega stressed out when you look back on the forum and see people getting theirs and posting pictures up and saying how fantastic they are

I would actually disagree to that... Last thing SoA wants is people like us to start pulling of from pre-orders. It will be a very bad sign and these cars will indeed sit on dealer's lots. Because if it won't make sense for car nuts like us who lost their sleep over this car to get it - they might have difficulties convincing the other 99% of population to get unpractical underpowered RWD car.
I am sure SoA won't screw us up for that reason. No way in hell this car will touch 30K. 24P, 26L. 27 is the most I will pay for L. After that I am out. Or if my dealer ever mention anything about mark-up. I not gonna lose my sleep over it ever again... I had enough of that with BRZ already. At this point it is simply ![]() Quote:

Scion price before BRZ delivery?
I skimmed this thread, but it seems noone has mentioned the real question I have: will we know the price of the FR-S before Subaru starts delivering BRZs?
For me, getting the price of the BRZ even as late as delivery isn't a big deal - unless you have a non-refundable deposit, you can always just say no. But if I have to make the decision to accept my BRZ without knowing the price of the FR-S, it will be a little bit tough. I'd hate to sign the papers on a 25K premium and then find out 2 weeks or a month later that the FR-S is going to start at 22K! |

It seems logical that the Scions would show up at dealerships at the same time as the Subaru's, after all, they're made on the exact same production line. That said, Subaru may give themselves dibs on releasing the car earlier. The Subaru dealership marketing materials clearly say early May for BRZ's showing up at dealerships. Scion, OTOH, hasn't given a firm timetable yet. If you're still on the fence between the two, you'll have to simply wait for both prices to be released...and then hope you're not SOL on getting either.

Personally, I feel as though Subaru and Scion are taking advantage of the situation (and us for that matter) by holding out on the price. And I don't respect that.
A few of you are saying "Don't worry about the price, it'll be fine" - Well good for you, you must have all of the money in the world and you probably haven't made very good decisions throughout your life in regard to vehicle purchases. I will not pay more for this car than I think it's worth, and I think it would be fair for Toyota/Subaru to release the price of the car so we can prepare for the purchase. We need time to make plans and think about our options - but that's exactly what they are taking away from us. There is absolutely no excuse. If this car was going to be cheap they would have released an official price by now. They are going to jack it up and screw those of us over who just say "I waited this long... so I'll get it... and it's $4k more than I expected... and there's a $2500 dealer markup... ohhh wellllll." This car is absolutely not worth it. Don't be blinded into the thought that this car is some kind of magical unicorn that is going to turn you into a famous race car driver. It's just going to be a "kind of" light weight rwd car that's underpowered and doesn't get as good mpg as its competitors. Toyota and Subaru are telling you it's going to be special just so when they release the car, the price will THEN be out, and many of us will just rush out and buy it, regardless of price - because we've been waiting...waiting...waiting. If the FR-S was going to cost $20k, they would be bragging left and right about it. That hasn't happened. Hyundai, Ford and other companies have already released prices for their new models that are coming out in a few months. Scion and Subaru should do the same. |

My pre-order was the first to go in at my dealer...and my config is pretty standard (WRB 6MT Limited)...so I suspect that my car will be part of the first delivery. Once we get "the call" and bring the whole family down for the big event, it's going to be even harder to "just say no" in the heat of the moment. My wife may be fine with it...I'll be able to rationalize it but will be disappointed...however, the drive home without the BRZ is going to be devastating to my son. My original point (in starting this thread) was that I (and all of us that have pre-ordered) really need to have more to "sleep on" before that day comes.

Guys, keep in mind the extremely unfavorable exchange rates we've been seeing up until just recently. If they were to release pricing for the car 2 or 3 months ago, it could've been well over the $30k mark for a Limited BRZ. December 30th, it was ~77JPY/1USD. Now it's ~82JPY/1USD. If the exchange rate continues to swing in our favor, the car could become even more affordable, at least in theory.

^^that's been my theory for a while; that they're waiting for the Yen/Dollar ratio to improve so they can maximize their profits to SoA. Just in the past month the ratio has improved about 5%, so that's something.

Wow.. people are getting so worked up about this.. I suggest everyone take a step back and refersh your perspective..
Here's what we know.. Subaru has said repeatedly - mid $20's. They probably know exactly what the price is going to be, but for some reason they have not chosen to release that information to us yet. They also know that everyone talks.. so they have kept that information secure at only high levels until they are ready to release. All the different ideas that are being put forward by dealership employees and regional reps are simply their own embellishment and projection. If the actual pricing had been communicated at the regional rep level.. we would already know.. those people cannot keep a secret.. trust me on that! Every business wants/needs to maximize profits. This rule encourages them to set the price as high as possible as long as demand keeps up with supply. This is a given.. but this does not mean that the BRZ will be $30k plus. The demand curve is sharply impacted by competition. Does anyone think that Subaru can justify a higher price for the BRZ than the WRX? Does anyone think they can price themselves significantly higher than the Hyundai Genesis, Miata, MazdaSpeed3, Mustang, or any number of other competitive platforms? Until we hear differently, I think it's safe to assume that the BRZ will be priced at or below the price of the WRX... $25k.. with increase for Limited and for Auto Transmission. This falls into line with the predominant estimations that have been circulating. Don't let yourselves get worked up by a few people guessing at a higher price! Also.. I expect to see the pricing come out on March 15. The brochures that they've released state that the website will be updated on that date. We've already seen the website in production and know that it was nearly complete. All they needed to do was update a few of the multi-media features and pop in the accurate prices. I suspect that has been done and it's nearly ready for live release on the Subaru site. Until we know for sure.. I recommend that everyone step back from the ledge and relax a little bit. Be patient.. enjoy the ride.. you'll get the info you need and you'll be able to make a proper decision at that time. |
