I think maybe 30kish for most siennas. I've seen some all the way up to 45k before! It just goes to show that having kids doesn't mean you can't ride in style anymore though.

Yeah, that'll do it. You must have really pissed off the cop though, if you got an 8 point infraction. Move out of Tallmadge when you get the chance

My dad just got a 2013 Veloster Turbo, and he's averaging 35 mpg already. The Hyundai's have really come a long way since they started in this country...

Sorry but no sympathies since you were such a proponent for buying the car before you graduated, so much for affording the car.

This is what we meant by covering your ass financially for unforseen or consequences from doing stupid things like tearing it up in a parking lot. Take it as lessons learnt and good luck.

Not looking for your sympathy. But I can afford the car if I really wanted to, I make good money as a software engineer. It's just not going to be worth paying the insurance on it and it's not worth dealing with asshole cops with nothing better to do than bully people in sporty cars. In my Hyundai I'll be invisible and because I am saving a bunch of money, later on after this blows over I'll be able to afford a much nicer car, like a Lexus IS350 or something.

Re: Goodbye 86, I'll miss you!

Shit always happens, that's just life.
It goes down hill very fast when you start a family too.

Don't let it drag you down, enjoy your Hyundai accent.

Surprisingly, I am enjoying it a lot. I thought I'd be miserable, but it isn't so bad.

JDM FD, T66 turbo. Got sold when the wife was 8mos preg...

Now we have 2 kids. A mortgage..
But I am blessed to have gotten my career on track.
I now make enough money to afford it all + my FRS.
Put your nose to the grinding stone for a few years. Work your A$$ off.
And one day you will be Back behind the wheels.
That, and once the points are off the license.....

These fit in very well:

Interesting that you guys are seeing MPG numbers near EPA - a good buddy of mine got an Accent hatch as well (black as well, but no sunroof, no alloys, and auto), but he's been pretty disappointed that the MPGs haven't been anywhere near the advertised numbers.

Of course, we are in Toronto, so maybe more stop-and-go mixed with winters (generally worse for MPGs) might be the culprit.
Not sure if he got money from Hyundai on account of that whole MPG claims controversy either...

It's warm here right now and my MPG has been very good. Most people on Hyundai-Forums.com are getting in the 30s as far as averages go. Some crazy hyper milers are getting over 40mpg. Maybe your buddy just has a heavy foot? hahaha

Can't help but wonder if driving style makes that much of a difference, even with highway driving - I solidly average mid-30s mpg with extended highway driving in my BRZ, though for those long drives I definitely adopt a hypermiler mindset when it comes to braking and acceleration.

Sounds like you did what you had to do, and hope to see you back on the forums (or back in a sportscar in general) in the years to come! As long as you don't have any major regrets with the purchase, and you can eat the 4k loss without any real burden on your financial situation, sounds like you have nothing to worry about...until you have kids.
