What is the performance of the carbon shafts at cold temperatures, say less than -30C?

AT CF Driveshaft
I got my AT carbon fiber driveshaft and installed it this morning. It's working great. In general I would say it just makes the whole car feel a little smoother and lighter on hard acceleration.
Big thanks to the folks at The Diveshaft Shop. Having to send off my OEM driveshaft was a bit of a pain but a necessary inconvenience, and they we're very quick and made it painless as possible. Not normally one to be the first to take the plunge but so far I'm extremely happy.

Bingo! They needed an OEM shaft to pattern the CF shaft on. A little less then two weeks to get my OEM driveshaft back, and then a couple more for them to build test and ship me the CF driveshaft.
Like I said a little inconvenience for me but worth it, and now I expect they'll have these available to order before too long for everyone.

Aren't aluminum and carbon fiber very corrosive to each other?
in the long run how will the bond hold up to the galvanic corrosion that will be happening inside the bonded area? |

I'm sure the experts will weigh in on this, but anytime you have two different metals (metaloid in the case of carbon) there will be some galvanic interaction that can lead to corrosion. For carbon and aluminum this is minimal, and you would also need an electrolyte to serve as a transport. Also keep in mind that carbon fiber is encased in a resin not bare carbon so there is probably little if any direct contact with the aluminum.

Any reason why RCE's driveshaft is weighing in 2.5 lbs lighter than your specs? 11.8 lbs is pretty incredible, I would be very interested in purchasing one! |
