Air to water means terrible heat soak or trying to keep 25+ pounds of ice cold for a day.

It's a worse option than doing air to air and getting a proper radiator and a good oil cooler.

The only time i saw ice used was for drag racing. I didnt realize the second radiator/coolant system heat soaked that badly... Was just an idea, prob stuck in my head cause i saw this the other day..

This. Proper cooling is expensive, but most go cheap because it doesn't make power

A nice 27mm denso radiator core (fabricated radiator) with an oil cooler (internal or external) with proper ducting would do the job well for FI or NA, but would be very pricey.

I have two track days @ Sebring on my Vortech supercharger with the 6 psi and 9 psi set up. Tune from perrin and Oil cooler, no problems so far. I'm not a professional driver by any means, but have previous experience at this track with my Lotus Exige S260 and E90 M3. It is a day/night difference on this car for DD and great extra HP for the track, specially with the long straghts at Sebring. Now with the summer almost here, we'll see how it behaves.

Koyo rad is probably under 500$ and an oil cooler ive seen in the 200-700$ range. So theres FI guys overheating at the track and thats too much $ for them? If these cars are overheating w out FI, i will have no problem spending the 1000$ before FI...

Koyo rads are... well not what I would call nice, but I am a heat exchanger snob

Any rad for under $500 is probably very cheap components and not well made, or made in super high quantity and are very simple. The rad I am thinking would probably be at least $1000. The core cost alone would be $500 before manufacturing the radiator.

Im sure, theres always better options if ur willing to pay. But would the ~1000$ combo i described clear up the heat issues for the typical FI track car/driver? Or is the problem so bad with these cars that a more extreme approach is "required"?
