I dont know how some people are missing this incredibly basic point: if the price isnt right for you, dont buy it.

you are not forced to buy this car, and if it costs too much to buy then look at something else. currently, there isnt many RWD sports cars under 45 grand (probably only fords and holdens?), and with this hopefully coming in at 40k drive away, thats making it one of the cheapest in its class.

hopefully nissan gets a clue and we see a new silvia in a few years.

ok you guys are miising the point i was trying to make 40k for this car isn't cheap.

compared to other cars on the market yes the car will be cheaper than say a 370z BUT this car isn't competeing with that no matter what the idiot sales person who told me thats the competitor that toyota aus is targeting and same salesman was saying 50k+(i told him where to go and that he didnt know anything about this car).

the point i was trying to make and this is the point you missed was that because of the taxes and the fee's and the fact we live on a bloody island fucks us over and means when you compare it to the rest of the world we are paying more than 50% extra for this car in australia, and 40k in Aus is not cheap, none of the "youth" toyota wanted to get back into cars will be able to do that, toyota is going to price itself out of one of the intended target buyers.

I've been on here since Jan '10 i think im just alil more invested in this car than you guys, buy something else, i already have, the fact is i wanted this car too but low and behold its not adhering to the price point that was promised all that time ago, what are my other options falcodores? i've already got myself a big rwd car i wanted a compact rwd toy, for 27-32k drive away, what other options are there even at 30-49k that comes close to the driver involvement that this car is all about?

What exactly happened to you during your childhood to make you think you are being denied some kind of right to purchase this car at a price you see fit?

if you dont like the price for what you get, dont buy it. its not a hard idea to grasp. There are plenty of people that will think its a good price for what it is and buy it. Yes there are taxes. There is taxes on every single car sold new in australia.

do you know WHY we have to pay more though? we are a smaller nation than the US, so we buy less. therefore, toyota AU pay more per unit than Toyota USA, which jacks the price up. in addition to that, we also have higher wages, and that in turn means cost of living can be higher here.

no one is saying that the price is wrong. Im sure if it was 30 grand people would still say it costs too much. even if it cost a dollar you would find a reason to complain that it costs anything at all. the fact of the matter is, there is no direct spec for spec competition for this car on the market in australia at present. The closest cars that are small and sporty are golf GTIs (40-50K) and subarus and to a lesser extent railliart lancers/VRXs, the MX 5, mazda 3 MPS, and probably some Im forgetting.

price any of those cars, all considered to be great cars, and youll see they are all in the 40-50k range depending on options. Why would toyota NOT grab as much money as they can for these? it makes no sense for them to sell them at 30k when there is literally nothing else even remotely sporty below 40. the S15 was sold for 40 grand, and its a very similar type of car.

I can tell you now that 40k is not a lot of money for a car to a 20-something year old. if you live at home you have even more money you can throw at a car - I rent at 250/wk and i can still afford to borrow the 20-25k i would need to make up the difference in picking one up AND live comfortably.

again, you just seem like you think youre entitled to this car because youve been following it for a long time? What makes you think that because i registered recently that I havent been following it for the same time, or longer?

again, if the price isnt right, dont buy it. no one is forcing you. wanting it more doesnt mean toyota should drop the price. if they were smart, theyd bump it up higher.

no your not getting what im saying don't worry, i know why these things happen, i understand economics and how competitive pricing works we get hit with more taxes than most contries and it inflates the price by too much, i dont think our wages are double that of the states why are our cars?, and dont make me sound like a pretentious little shit, im not saying i have a right to this car, what im saying is..., you know what nevermind if you havn't seen my point by now there is no explaining things to you.

i never said i had a right to own this car sorry if you miss understood the part about me being on here longer than you, but by the way your speaking it also supports my reasoning that you just recently started following the car, i got into this car because it was supposed to be a fun, reliable and affordable toyota!, i aslo said i was more invested in the car, that doesn't mean i have more of a right to buy it than you or anyone else here, or anywhere else in the world, not even if they saw it 1/2 an hour before they bought it for the 1st time

I have a 2010 Mini Clubman turbo for my dd
A '95 camaro z28 for when I want some torque fun
A '92 Nissan Hardbody for bombing along dirt roads
A '08 jetta gli for my girl.
The BRZ will likely replace the mini once I feel its starting to depreciate.
I hope to add an FD rx7 next for a track toy/tribute to rotaries.
