*UPDATE for grip lovers!
Stock car on sport hard leaderboard will be updated like all the others!*

I will compile the times posted in this thread and the times posted too late in its original thread into the leaderboard on the first page. Ill get it done some time this weekend.
Just wanted to announce it now and ask a question or three.

I know there are a lot of Americans on this forum. But I would guess people that were into the GT86 would love driving it on a track like Nordschleife. To me, and most people I know it is the ultimate track!
And I would also guess people would like to enjoy driving on the cars limit, feeling the balance and handling on the car. Not putting super sticky tires on it that would make the car do most medium/high speed corners at full throttle.
But, I seem to be wrong thinking that. It seems like the majority of people here like to drive cars that are "on rails". People putting sport hard or even gripper tires on low powered stock road cars. And people complaining about a 2 minute track having too many corners. So, whats the deal. Is it an american thing?
Im just curious...

And I would guess more people than zero would be into tuning the car. If it is a tire issue, 500pp is on sport hard, but is that considered low grip for guys here too??

Just came over this great thread.
That had this video in it.

I loved it! My toughs exactly! Some people in that thread seems to take the concept as well..
Normal, or "low grip" tires are fun! It is not about putting on sticky tires and getting the fastest lap times. Its about the joy of controlling a car on its limit.
People here having a hard time getting that feel in GT5?
Personally I find comfort hard and comfort soft more fun than comfort soft in a stock GT86. Also, those tires replicate real life grip pretty good.

I have a request for participants to help us less experienced drivers improve: Can you guys attach replays?

Instructions for Sharing Replays via USB

Export
  1. After racing, hit the save ghost replay button
  2. Go to Replay Library and pick the file
  3. Hit Export Save Data
  4. Exit GT5
  5. Insert USB stick if you haven't yet
  6. Go to the Game column and choose Saved Data Utility (PS3) and choose the replay file
  7. Hit the Green triangle > Copy
  8. Choose the USB stick and hit X
  9. On your computer, copy and compress the entire PS3 > SAVEDATA > BCUS98114-RPL### folder path and attach it to your post
Import
  1. On your computer, download the attached ZIP file and extract it to the USB stick. If the folder path PS3 > SAVEDATA is missing, create it and put BCUS98114-RPL### in it.
  2. Insert USB stick into PS3
  3. In the PS3's main menu, go to the Games column and choose Saved Data Utility (PS3)
  4. Scroll to and select the USB drive
  5. Select the Replay file you want
  6. Hit the Green triangle and Copy
  7. Start GT5 and go to GT Mode
  8. Go to Replay Theater, hit Import (icon with little box and arrow), choose the file, and hit X
  9. Once it's imported, it'll be on your Replay list.
Notes:
  • The smallest file (PARAM.SFO) has the course, car, driver, and date in it.
  • Replays appear to be region specific (at least, I'm unaware of a workaround). BCUS98114 = US, BCES00569 = Europe.
  • Laptime, car, track, driver, and date are all listed when you select each file. Laptime shown in the replay itself is previous best, not time of the replay.
  • See gtplanet for more details.
Now, if im on a MAC how can i watch these ZIP files? Because I havent been able to watch any replays that people are posting.

REOPENED!

Thread and challenge REOPENED for the rest of JULY!

Same stuff as before. But FR-S is now included... For times to be valid, you have to tell which car you used.
I have not driven it yet, but I assume it is the same as the GT86??

There is also another thread for those who like to max out their car and drive on race hard tires.
http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1077

Moderators ,please move this thread into the "Other Vehicles & General Automotive Discussions" forum.

I recently pulled my G27 out of the basement and fired up GT5 for the first time since Spring. Decided it was finally time to learn Nürburgring too, so I did the AMG Academy Beginner events, and then drove it with the BRZ:
  • Stock car - Sport hard
  • ABS = 1, TCS off, real grip, no driving line or other aids
  • 8:25.677 - Deslock - BRZ - G27 (clutch)

Nice one! Congratulations on mastering a fast lap around the ring! First BRZ on the list too!

I too rigged up my wheel a couple of days ago. Been mostly collecting dust since spring, except a little in driving time in the summer.
Had many hours of great online fun this weekend. But my left braking foot have started to dislike my driving position already. :/ Got my pedals higher up and tilted a little to see if that helps. Also modified the clutch pedal to become the brake pedal. Less resistance and less bend in my ankle area. (not using the clutch, but I often use the H-shifter)

G25 and G27 are now officially supported so you can set up the buttons to adjust brake bias from the wheel while in a race among other adjustments. Im still new to that tough, so far 3:1 brake ratio seems to work quite good on some cars.

Updated list:

Stock car - Sport hard
1.) 8.11.633 - RaceR - GT86 - G25
2.) 8:11.841 - Michel - GT86- G25
