Great question! I would like to know this as well.

The foam you're thinking of which is prone to degrading is the polyester type which is found in sponges and washing materials.

If you check the blog for their R&D, Perrin states they use a poly-urethane compound for their foam filter and it is wire reinforced to prevent collapsing.

Since it gets hot as hell in Texas, this isn't a bad choice for a CAI due to the position. I'm just curious to see the intake temps versus the air boxes to see if that position really does make a difference.

I would think the air temps would be the same as a stock setup since they pull in air from the exact same place.

Sorry, I mean intakes like AIRAID, aFe, etc that pull from the front bumper location. I want to see that the Perrin truely stays colder. That would do it for me since it gets 100+ here in the summer and I want my car to have the coldest air possible.

I would if I had remembered to get a print out at the time. Unfortunately it was months ago and I wasn't thinking about getting printouts because the specific dyno I go to doesn't output high numbers and therefore it's not really a printout that is good for showing off lol.

I'll try to remember to get print-outs this time...unfortunately though I don't own a scanner so I'll have to take a picture of the print-out and then post it.

Great install write-up.
I'm "ocd" about having all same mfg parts installed. Perrin is a company doing just that for us and making sure the product is fully tested & not rushing it out on the market. Their blog is great, goes in detail about parts. Customer service is great also. So to me that is worth the extra dollars you are going to spend vs. other mfg products.

This video is from my FR-S.. but yes, they are originally from the SEMA show car, and not productions colors. Also all the other "Oh so Orange" parts that haven't been installed yet.

Unfortunately with where my exhaust ends (very shortly) currently, and my large amounts of polyurethane and solid bushings on the transmission, theres not much to be heard from the interior! BUT as soon as this freezing rain epidemic is over, I will be doing my best to make a video for y'all!
