Enquired at my local Toyota dealer today.

You are able to pay a deposit (£500) to have your name on the list to have one of the first GT86's when they arrive next year. Spec etc will be discussed and finalised as soon as its available (he thought sometime in January).

However, dealer said he wouldn't take any deposit from me as he couldn't confirm a price (although the dealer principle was told £25000 at a Toyota event in Birmingham last week) or spec yet.

He showed me the Toyota order form currently available:

GT86 - 6 Speed MT With/Without Leather
GT86 - 6 Speed AT With/Without Leather

Then a list of the colours (all the same as discussed elsewhere on the forum). Thats it!!

Decent chap, admitted he could find more info on the internet about the GT86 than he could from Toyota!

Speaking of leather seats. Have we seen any full leather interiors yet? All the interior photos I can remember have cloth/alcantra or leather alcantara?

right now i have 3 vehicles. one of them is my practical daily driver. one is for modding. and one is just to mess around with and have fun in. even if i have to wait, i won't be SOL. i'll probably sell my 3rd vehicle to make purchasing the FRS easier, but i see no reason for me to part with my money until it's necessary to do so.

Waiting list? God I hope these cars aren't going to be THAT popular. I'd rather have a car few people have..but that's me.

Well if there's only a few of them wouldn't it make sense that we want to be on a waiting list to be sure that we get one...?

Eh I'm a patient person. Plus the car I currently have is more than enough to keep me occupied

Seriously though, I just don't want these cars to turn into the next SRT-4 or Civic.

Totally irrelevant to the point I was trying to make but alright. I personally can't stand "me too" cars, ie Mustangs, Scion tc's *shivers*, aforementioned SRT-4 and Civics, I love my IS350 because very rarely do I see another one on the road. At least the price point for these is fairly high so little kids coming from the SRT world wont fuck up the reputation of this car for the rest of you. Just look at what happened with the 350z. I used to own one of those so I know first hand.

Sorry for my little rant, but I think a lot :p

The price point for the toyobaru will probably be within a few grand of just about all of the cars you listed when they were new. The second owner of a used car may not be the type of person you like, but it's inevitable that people will buy them. In most cases the kids (under 18) that you see driving these cars didn't buy them, their parents did. Can't do anything about that when daddy can write a 30k check. Otherwise a lot of people end up buying things used. Best thing you can do is just get over it quickly. I mean, really, who gives a shit what someone else drives? Just ignore the assholes.

I think i'll hold off until they make a TRD version, or an RS version.
I might end up getting the STI version, cuz I really hate what they did to the FR-S.

I've grown accustomed to my Lexus and can't let it go if I feel like i'm giving up on some stuff.

I don't really understand your point, buy a car no one mods then.
I see IS's in Houston all the time, they are a dime a dozen.
Guess what??? When I bought my G20, the crowd was different.
Now it's a bunch of highschoolers getting them as hand me downs.
When I bought my IS it was the same thing.
And you know what? It's going to happen to your IS350/250.
It's up to you and the older members to show them how to act and make an example out of yourself.

Hah, not here, people prefer Euros where I live. I'm already in the process of replacing my IS with something else anyway. When I get my BRZ or FR-S it will be solely a track vehicle so it wont even be driven on the road. I was just saying in general, I hate when a car becomes mainstream. Especially when it attracts nothing but yuppie teenagers who peel out at every intersection.

Why? It's like telling the salesman "here's my wallet. Take whatever you think is fair." You're not exactly putting yourself in a strong price negotiation position.

Lol, today I went to the local Subaru dealer and the 3 salesmen had no clue what the BRZ was. I had to show them pictures on my iPod touch. Needless to say I am first on the list there. I have been on the list at my scion dealer for 3 weeks now and basically they know I want a white mt fully loaded. I will get a call as soon as the options list is available so we can spec the car I want. I am not obligated to purchase the car in anyway, but I have purchased 2 other vehicles from them in the last 2 years and have a great relationship. Pricing for Scion is fixed so no wiggle room except for options and accessories, Subie on the other hand we might have some haggling available to us.

^^hah that's no surprise. When the Genesis Coupe was being released, few salesmen knew what it was, and even 6+ months after release, the mechanics at the dealerships didn't even know what staggered wheels were when my friend who owns a GC went to get her tires rotated. SHE had to school THEM.
