I know how you feel, i'm 18 and i own a FRS. Bitches be jealous everywhere i turn.
Not really, but good luck finding a job!
Problems with living in bumfuck nowhere: I'd have to drive an hour to reach a major city where most internships would be...and kids get cars for graduation all the time, mine was just delivered 5 months beforehand But seriously, I think my parents were also tired of paying for gas on a lifted Titan...great truck but 12 mpg really doesn't get you far...

What are people's experience with detailing jobs? I love detailing but I feel like it would get old after a week or so of constantly cleaning...

In my experience, that really depends. And in some cases it's the exact opposite.

They want some young kid who isn't experienced so they can pay you minimum wage and mold you into a mindless drone that will do whatever they say. Someone who isn't already jaded and has taken shit for years and years. I've heard several stories of retail employers specifically not hiring someone with a degree or advanced education because they can think for themselves and may challenge management decisions. Sounds a bit tinfoil hatty, but what other reason do they have to pick the fresh high school grad over the down-on-his-luck but previously successful college graduate?

As a personal note, I hated working in clothes more than anything. It may sound poor of me to say, but goddamn women are messy. We would spend maybe ten to fifteen minutes cleaning up the men's department, and three or more times longer than that in the women's.

Just keep in mind cleaning is awesome job security.
1. Americans are lazy as hell and don't like to clean.
2. Half the time you would be surprised in how much you can make cleaning.
3. If you like working alone it's not bad at all.
4. People really appreciate your work 80% of the time and tip well.
5. Gives you an excuse to go home and convince your parents you already cleaned enough things in one day and you want to be lazy. <-- Aka go play your COD

It's true I don't believe in the moon at all actually. I was just posting up what I understood to be a funny link. I did an unpaid internship

I did one as well, i learned tons of shit though. How to solder, read most schematics for circuits, some electrical understanding oh and how to make a box for shipping last forever.

There are always going to be internships out there that they just hire you to be a slave, but there are going to be some work places that want to teach people and will be glad to teach you.

Just gotta fucking get out of there if your not learning shit, simple as that.

Well, I can give you some advice on what not to do, roofing. It was the family business and I spent my summers doing it from about the age of 10 until I went to college. Nothing wrong with hard work, but man if you ever have your house roofed treat those guys well.

Best summer job I ever had is pictured below. I'm the one on the bottom left next to the guy in the white shirt. I had a lot more hair then.

Guinea pig for pharmaceutical trials. Pays well and you do absolutely nothing but eat and sleep in most cases.

Depends on the location and income level. I have friends who got brand new Audi's for their 16th birthday(California boarding school) and friends who got a Toyota Tercel that their dad originally bought for scrap but then decided to give to his son(rural missouri)... I guess I'm somewhere in between...Although I can say that I got more emotional over getting this car than I've gotten over getting into my top couple colleges... This was me halfway through my drive home from the dealer: (crying with joy).
