It was clearly an opinion, and Toyota stopped making good cars in the late 90s IMO. And I guess that's still true since Subaru makes this one :P And I don't hate Scions that much really

"30 to 40 years ago, an AE86,[...] was 1.5 million yen($19,000 USD). [...] that was the starting salary was for a university graduate. We kept that in mind when we priced the car[...]” - Tetsuya Tada (Chief Engineer)
"Today the starting salary of a university graduate in Japan is around 2.5 million yen($32,000 USD). [...]We will have to wait until early 2012 when the car is officially released. There will be no pricing announcement at the Auto Show." http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/201...hief-engineer/ Personally I think $32,000 is reasonable for the high trim. Saying that I also plan on securing a full time job before I purchase one tho...I'm just finishing up College fyi. |

+1 going that route as well if that's the case, or just wait for the new Miata and or buy an old S2000.

Let me clarify myself a bit,
If you guys in the States get it for say $24,000 MSRP. (that seems fair right? Here in Ontario you'll be looking at probably more in the range of $27,000MRSP, but who knows with our dollar being strong maybe more. 1 Canadian dollar = 0.965624 U.S. dollars @11-28-11,22:31 . $27,000MRSP +$3,500(HST) - Harmonized Sales tax @ 13% + $100(Air tax) - this one I know Subaru does but maybe not Toyota +$1,600(PDI&Freight) - might be able to swing this, but leave it for now ============= Total $32,200 CAD so when I say I'm willing to spend that much, it's because I've spent the past year crunching numbers for other cars and it's never pretty living in Ontario.

Toyota said its affordable, i can only hope they stick to their promise and keep the price in the 22-24K range.

I figure it'll be in the 25K range; there's really no advanced technology, AWD, turbo system or excessive luxury features to drive the price up.
