Pick what you enjoy. Not what others complain about. I wish my Fit was a manual. I just think it's more fun. If you think a manual is more fun do that. The auto does have flappy paddles though so try both. The paddles on the auto was pretty cool.

That would be false.

Same Torsen LSD in either specs.

I would tell you manual, but that's just my very subjective opinion. Do what you did works for you. As long as you have an Zx6, I don't mind!

I like the feeling of BECAUSE RACECAR I get when I'm rowing through gears, even on a boring commute.

Manual is worth it for me in this case too... I love driving this car daily and to me, it never gets boring. A lot of it is up to the driver... For instance, heel-and-toe downshifting always makes a manual car so much more exciting to drive every single day... It really is up to the driver to make the most out of driving a manual in a daily situation.
Thank you. This is the kind of feedback I'm looking for.

I don't know what kind of convincing you need. The MT is $2000 cheaper! The MT can do burnouts. The MT can turn the traction control off. (for reals) You can do "cookies" with at MT.

It is much harder or impossible to do these things with a AT. I bought an AT. I know.

idk why people complain about shifting a manual in traffic and all that bs i actually enjoy and look forward to shifting the car lol. plus this car is pretty slow so manual completes the driving experience somewhat imo I personally would have probably gotten bored with an automatic frs

I agree, "rowing" through the gears is part of the experience. If you get irritated by shifting in stop and go traffic, then just go auto and don't second guess yourself, you'll still get a fantastic driving experience. If you are more intrigued by the finer shifting techniques, and shifting smoothly is a long term goal, then you need the manual as it offers an intimate means of control and connection to the machine that the auto can never provide. The automatic is not bad, it's just more, well, automatic.

If you can drive a stick then just get the manual. Traffic is shit whether you're in a manual or auto. Takes me 1.5 hours to drive to work everyday because Sydney traffic sucks balls. If you've driven manual long enough then changing gears just becomes second nature and you won't even have to think about it.

Still indecisive? Let's try another approach. Here are the definitions of the words manual and automatic:

manual:
c.1400, from L. manualis "of or belonging to the hand; that can be thrown by hand," from manus "hand, strength, power over; armed force; handwriting," from PIE *man- (2) "hand" (cf. O.N. mund "hand," O.E. mund "hand, protection, guardian," Ger. Vormund "guardian," Gk. mane "hand").

automatic:
"self-acting, moving or acting on its own," 1812, from Gk. automatos, used of the gates of Olympus and the tripods of Hephaestus (also "without apparent cause, by accident"), from autos "self" (see auto-) + matos "thinking, animated" (see automaton). Of involuntary animal or human actions, from 1748, first used in this sense by English physician and philosopher David Hartley (1705-1757). In reference to a type of firearm, from 1877; specifically of machinery that imitates human-directed action from 1940.

Now then, which one of those sounds more fun?

If you have to ask probably just get the auto. There are a lot of things to look at:

1. Did you grow up driving a stick ?
2. Do you have fast reaction times.
3. Do you text while driving
4. Do you talk on the phone while driving ?
5. Do you smoke and drink coffee while driving ?
6. Do you use GPS while driving?
7. How often do you touch the radio while driving ?
8. How fast can you pull the reverse lockout and reverse out of a bad situation?
9. How long do you plan on keeping the car ?

None of these are meant to be jugdmental at all, its just what your comfortable with, that's what matters.

Don't forget, joy riders often have no idea how to drive manuals, they are just dumb kids. There is also the report of a carjacker who got in a car with a stick and didn't know what to do.

Very simple: if you are planning to spend in this car at least 2 hours every day in traffic like this (5-10 mph average spped):

Then auto is the only option.

But I don't think you guys have such traffic anywhere in the US So if staying 30 sec at a crossroad waiting for green traffic light you call "traffic" - this car deserves to be bought with manual transmission.

My situation is somewhat unique, in that for those truly great mountain runs and weekend drives on open roads (where manual really shines), I'll be taking my Z. However, I still want a fun experience for running into town, mundane highway drives, shopping and daily commute; which is the whole reason I'm getting an FRS to begin with.

Question is would manual be more fun/exciting for those more mundane tasks? Put another way, if all you manual guys had no way to drive it in a more spirited fashion on twisty roads, etc. would you still get a manual?
Yes. I would take a manual transmission over an auto in any vehicle, regardless of its purpose.
