Yes, because hitting the brakes midcorner is such a great idea.

Yes, because ABS was never invented.

*edit* to add to my comment, judging by how dark it is in the video he should be able to see headlights from afar, not like he is driving at 12pm!

Looks like the drivers had adequate control to me. I don't think that they were trying to enter the corners smoothly or quickly; this was just for fun to test the car's limit. The negative commenters in this thread are probably a real bummer to be around.

To me, it's not appropriate and is a definite hazard for not only the driver / passenger(s), but also everyone that shares the road with you (it is an uncontrolled environment, therefore no one can predict what can happen).

I've been guilty of being involved in / taking part in a countless number of incidents like this... And to control my urge and to keep me safe & sound, I spend at least $300 per month on two-day HPDE events. It has educated me, and most importantly... It has disciplined me... For the most part.

I think we can all universally agree that no one's perfect, but at the same time, there should be an honest effort to restrain one's self from an action that is much sensitive to danger / harm.

*EDITED*

So are Doctors in a smoke shop, as a point of comparison; but it doesn't mean they're wrong to be.

Totally agree!

...but from BuBlake's point of view, we must be "real bummer(s)" to be around, but I think we'll have a blast to be around :happy0180:

Most of the hills and mountains around the Los Angeles area wouldn't let you see headlights coming from afar, especially not around rapid corners.

Also, I'd like to see you take a fast corner and then hit the brakes hard in your FR-S and see what happens. One reason ABS was invented to help you steer under braking since static friction is greater than kinetic friction, and to also reduces stopping distance. It won't save you from the inevitably weight shift and slide in the middle of the turn.

if we are going by the op's video i dont see why he would need to slam on his brakes since he never entered the oncoming lane. So i would say he could apply heavy brake but not enough to skid.

Hey, it all comes down to safety... We're all humans, and no one wants to see another individual get hurt. That's what it comes down to.

ABS will stop a car from under steer now so go as fast as you want you can always hit the brakes mid corner....LOL

Basic car control; brake or turn, tires are only good at doing one at a time.

Yeah, I don't see why all the hate. It was a bunch of guys who were having fun and they understood the consequences of their actions. Yeah, I would have hated to see someone get hurt especially other motorists but they were "watching for headlights" and stuff. The driver wasn't the best but certainly wasn't the worst either. I certainly feel like the driver is gonna get better if he can keep up the practice. The only suggestion I have is to take it on to the track next time to learn more about the handling dynamics before going up on the hill again.

You're not really going to compare a well lit street to a completely dark road with ZERO outside lighting are you? Don't be dense.
