Wow. There had to be something shady because of all their crappy commercials. Lol
Damn that sucks! Is your sis at least going to pay for the damages?!

I'm not sure if there is an age differential but I know one of the qualifications is having a clean record. Even if you have a speeding ticket, don't even bother because you can't have any moving violations on your record.

I hope the rates lean towards the Miata's because holy fried chicken is that cheap!
It's all about driver psychographics. Let's hope our average buyers skews more to a Miata driver than an Impreza driver.

Location factors in as well. people around Atlanta can't drive worth beans (I can generally count on getting rear ended once a year,) so that factors into insurance rates. I'm just glad I don't live in Michigan anymore. My rates were double there for the same car (a Mazda Protege5)

I would be content with base Impreza insurance rates over WRX/STI rates . The difference is $48 a month!

That sucks. I consider myself lucky here in Kentucky . We "get" hit by deer more than anything, which is of course thanks to our large deer population.

6 months , and I am <25 and <8 years of driving experience. It's already half of what I would have paid at 18 so hopefully it drops another half by the time I hit 25.

Its been a while since I actually recall automobile insurance price (yeah yeah... its still not exactly under my name...), I was going to have second thoughts on the car if that was every 3 months or less -___-;

Hmm well it should be less under parental name, no? Forgot how CA and StateFarm works...

Yes, when you are on your parent's insurance it's vastly cheaper. But they are taking responsibility for your driving. And don't forget it!

Get an online quote for insurance and then proceed to thank your parents profusely for their kindness.

When I was younger it was maybe $60 under my parent's name vs $300 a month to go solo. Now it's close to $10-$20 vs $150 solo. Which makes that decision all that much harder to go solo. It's better to wait though.

I'm in my 2nd year with Wawanesa. Full coverage for 2003 Highlander and 2000 Prelude for my mother and myself. Had a rear-ended "tap" accident last year, which bumped my premium up about 400bucks. Our annual premium is now about $1900 total for both cars. That's pretty damn good for two cars full coverage in Rosemead. So figure $1500-1600 without that accident LOL.

I remember 2 years ago we had 21st century and it cost about as much and was before my accident, and we didnt even have full coverage on the Lude (it just had comprehensive $500 deductible).

Get Wawanesa if possible, fam! The only thing is that they're really strict in that they "screen" you before insuring you (but require a down payment equivalent to the first month's payment). Also they don't cover family members who arent on the policy. Other than that, I don't think I'm going to switch to another company unless someone can share a company that offers cheaper rates for a 25year old male in SoCal.

RRnold told me about that plan. Its one hell of a deal. Was rear ended about a month ago by some kid who wasn't paying attention to the road. wawanesa was his carrier.

I wonder if Wawanesa boots people off their policy after a severe accident... Lol

Nope. Premium just goes up. That's what happened to me last year, when I hit the brakes and barely tapped the guy and left the screw marks of my license plate thing on his bumper. Was my first "accident" and it was my fault, so I'm not sure if the $400 increase in premium is a huge increase or not. Been driving since I was 16 (I'm 24 now).

Aside from that though, Wawa is great. Only thing that sucks about them is that they're a small company that works only from like 8am-5pm M-F, and their office is in San Diego, so it may take a while for them to send you paperwork if necessary. Also not many dealers/brokers for Wawa around SGV, so just call 'em up for quotes. Neat thing about them was that they emailed me a quote, and there's a dollar value for every option, and you just check off what you want, and add up the total at the end, and that's your total annual premium. Also, you have to buy 1year as opposed to monthly or 6month like other companies.

Really? I thought after a big enough car accident (he totaled his car and did 70% dmg to our car + bodily injuries + making our car hit 2 other cars) he would get dropped. Bleh, Iono. But wawanesa sounds like a pretty damn good insurance company. I'm currently with Liberty Mutal but hell they take care of me too. Lol

I hope insurance will rate the car along side RX-8 and Miata instead of WRX and 370Z. Even next to Hyundai 2.0T is acceptable.

Theft and vandalism, two things I hate. A buddy of mine got his S13 hatch with loads of mods stolen on the way to storage. Poor guy didn't have insurance since he just got the car running after all the mods. I recommend hidden GPS (there's one for $100 per year with text message location alarm & web track), proximity sensors tied with something like a hidden Hero HD cam. Hero HD can also come in handy for insurance claim, too. (So long as you're not at fault). Hero cams are real cheap now.

Man, that kinda car security sounds a bit outrageous, lol. Say, on these newer cars, how is the security system on 'em anyway? Besides honking alarm and immobilizer key thing, anything else special?
