Gen 2 Transmission in a Gen 1 Car

An axle started making some noise for me. Checking to see if 2022 axles fit. New one is on top with the extra ridges on the boots. A bit longer overall. Also putting the Cusco exhaust shield in to hopefully increase longevity of the left axle.

FYI, the new driveshaft is 1,1 kg lighter than the old one.

I thought i had seen somewhere a list of the upgrades to the trans for ‘22 but cant find it. Anyone know where I can find that?

Do the 2nd gen axles actually fit our gen 1?

FWIW: I fitted a vent in my new axles by working an ice pick under the clamp and then sliding a wd40 tube in. Works like a charm.

I'll attach the data for the second gen axle. I can't find similar for the first gen but you can measure yours.

I saved a hun or so and opted for header wrap on the exhaust where it passes under the CV. So far, after many summer days lapping, my CV’s have been flawless.
