They are both very similar and good exhausts. I have heard the Perrin and I have the nameless on my car and they both sound more or less the same. I chose the Nameless because it was a lot cheaper since it is just an axleback and I didn't see any benefit to replacing the midpipe. I'll save my money for headers/front pipe combination where the real power is. The build quality on the axleback is really incredible, it is like a work of art. The tips are the perfect size and offset and really made the back end of the car look a lot better.

100% factory: factory midpipe (12.4lbs) + factory axle back (25lbs) = 37.4lbs

Really cant wait for you guys to get with the times and use the Metric system like the rest of us modern country's :P

Thanks for reviving this thread. I'm also trying to decide between Perrin or Nameless, but I may put off the decision for a little while. Have the power gains been proven by independent tests yet?

I was leaning toward the Perrin, but now I'm thinking: Does the Nameless option (of axleback+frontpipe) really produce about the same power as the Perrin Catback (if not more)? If so, wouldn't the Nameless be a clear winner given that it weighs a lot less than the Perrin?

the weight quoted for Perrin cat back was for the resonated version. my understanding is the non resonated cat back is lighter. can't someone confirm?

thanks

Yes, true...posted by dwx earlier in this thread:

"The catback without a resonator weighs 26lbs total, so about 12.4lbs less than stock. But then you have to deal with a louder and probably raspier exhaust."

I do want something quieter though so I'm considering the resonated Perrin or the offset version of the Nameless.

Just got my Perrin resonated installed. I love it so far. Living in Cali, I wanted something quiet. But I was a bit disappointed that it was quieter than I would like. However, I would rather have it too quiet, than too loud. I wish it was a tad louder. The non resonated would probably be perfect. I do feel better that cops won't pull me over as it's pretty tame until I get really on it.

Gotta fine tune my ecutek tune with it this week.

Thanks for the comments. I have been a bit worried that the resonated Perrin catback might be TOO quiet, although I am looking for something that won't wake the neighbors. If we are planning to do frontpipe also (and maybe overpipe and headers at some point), then maybe resonated is the way to go because those other parts will add volume. I wonder how loud the resonated catback with catLESS frontpipe would be.

That was my thought process as well as I do want to get a front pipe and maybe over pipe in the future and didn't want to add more noise. Is front and/or over pipe won't pass smog?

the perrin systems are really a trade off.

go with res cat back + non cat front pipe and you have more power but also more weight.

go with non res cat back + cat front pipe then you gain less power but you also lose weight.

if non cat front pipe + non res cat back isn't too loud then that's the best solution for power & weight gain.

personally i think i'd go for non res catback and cat front pipe as i don't mind a little noise.

I just need to hear all of these combos in person, back to back. That shouldn't be too tough, right?

im probably going to confuse you guys even more on your choices. I have a visconti tune and a resonated perrin catback. I have over 2k miles on this set up. I swear overtime it has become a little louder. I would say it is easily 10% louder than when I first got it. Go figure I LOVE IT. Perrin is awesomeness

definitely louder. More growl. Not loud at all. But I really wouldn't say super quiet, especially now, I give it a 5 out of 10 on the loudness scale.
