If it'll fit, a full size would be the way to go imo. Donut tires are not safe at highway speeds and really aren't all that safe at speeds on many public roads.

I'd want a little donut spare. The extra weight savings isn't worth it imo. I once blew out my rear tire taking a turn fast, the tire was about to fall off the wheel. Not something goo could fix at all.

I've had a car completely shred the tire before...my 98 Eclipse (HORRIBLE car...god it was horrible). It happened at night, 70 miles from the nearest major tire store or hotel, on a major highway.

I had a donut spare. I opted instead to have the vehicle towed.

Changing a tire on the shoulder of a major highway, in the dark, and then driving 70 miles on a high speed road using a donut, just so I could get it to the tire shop (which was closed till the morning).....yeah I was not at all comfortable with that.

If the vehicle had a full size spare, I would have used it. But on a vehicle that size...where do you put that? The same thing is true of the FT-86. I want SOME trunk space...and IMHO donuts are worthless. I'm also not comfortable driving on a "repaired" tire anyways, since I frequently drive spiritedly, so the tire would get completely replaced anyways.

Tire sealant is the best option. I don't care if the tire place won't fix the old tire...I wouldn't want them to. If the leak was small enough that I could fill it up and go to the tire place without the goo, sure, but if it's anything even remotely major, I want a new tire. If tire sealant goo allows me to do that, then that's the way to go.

Just no runflats....they compromise handling and feel so much...

You're damn right I want a spare tire and I want it to look as ridiculous as the one I have in my RX7.

I think they should make the rim look more like a wagon wheel with wood grains and all, if you're going to be driving around on a ridiculously tiny spare for a few miles, might as well have fun with it.

Also, I'm serious. I wan't a silly looking spare.

You have never seen a repair on a tire before have you?

It's a plug and a patch with Liquid Rubber applied over the top.

Drive as hard as you want it won't do anything to the patch. With hard driving the Sidewall is taking more abuse than the flat part. They won't repair a sidewall damaged Tire or if it's in the Shoulder either.

So by buying a new tire every time you get a small leak you are just wasting money. But hey it's yours to waste!

Where can I buy one? You know none of the OEM's would go for it lol.

Talk about a humbling experience. During my senior year of high school they were building a new gymnasium so there was construction going on for a few months and wouldn't you know it I picked up a nail. I felt like the biggest douche driving my black RX7 with black powder coated wheels... and that bright yellow sunflower donut through the parking lot and past the school. I love you Mazda.

Nah I said in my original post that if it's a small enough problem that I can fill it up and limp it to the tire guys, then I'm fine with a fix. 90% of the time it just winds up being a leaky stem valve (I've had several of those) and not an actual puncture. If it's a nail or screw, sure, that's too easy. And I can get it to the tire folks without even using the spare....I ALWAYS check my tires before any long trip.

I've seen some pretty nasty punctures in tires though....random crap that tires have picked up from construction sites, etc. Not sure I'd be comfy with a patch in that case.

Heck that's nothing! There were guys at my school who went out and bought 4 donuts and replaced all 4 tires with them and drove around like that. They were blissfully ignorant of just how retarded they were in their 4-donut civics.

Yeah, I actually have two of the OE donuts, they're great for drag days.
