I understand that the new forumla coming out, Estercore, will have slightly reduced levels of detergents, but will still be able to be safely used on the street. The ester basestocks also have natural detergent abilities.

300V is definitely streetable...however we recommend the Motul 8100 for daily driven cars.
We just got in our shipment of 300V and just noticed the new cans with tamper proof lids and "ESTER core" stamped on the front.

No one said 0W-20 is "not sufficient".. it's simply NOT REQUIRED. I'll use 10W-30 because my car is "operated under high speeds."

The link to Amsoil is provided because I share that opinion, and there's no point to retype all that on here.

Just to reiterate, you're using a 30 weight oil because your car will see a high stress situation frequently (like track days) where the oil will be operating at a higher temperature which is why you need a higher weight oil. I think you're looking at it in the opposite direction, 30 weight is not required we get to use 20 weight.

Yes, that's correct!

I'll sacrafice a little, if any, on the MPG with the heavier weight oil.. if there's a chance it'll provide better protection under those conditions.

Ok, the bluish/purple filter I got from the Subaru dealer has got a part# 15208AA15A. Anyone know if this is ok to use?

That filter is for older subarus. It changed to a black style when the new forester switched to the top mounted oil filter. The BRZ and forester used to use the same black filter, now the forester uses a newer smaller black filter and the brz still uses the large black one.

the BRZ filter part number is: 15208AA130

It has to be better because jdm.

I just realized I didn't answer the question. I wouldn't use the blues as it's a completely different engine type and could be different oil pressures. I would think either black one will work since they work on the new 2.0L impreza.

I felt the same thing. It seemd to be a noticible diff. I have done a thousand oil changes (I'm old) and this is the first time I thought I noticed a change.

Are you guys that are getting the blue filters telling the parts guys that you need a BRZ filter? I'm surprised that so many dealers are handing out the wrong filter. That's why I just order in bulk from dealers on-line. I've used the same Subaru dealer for around 12 years and the only time I've ever needed to complain to the General Manager is due to the bonehead they used to have in the parts department.

Every subaru dealer parts department calls you a heretic and spits in your face if you don't supply them with a VIN number to order ANYTHING for your car. They HAVE to know it's a BRZ I think it's just lazyness or cheapness ordering blues for everything. Or they get your VIN and don't check the computer...

My dealer knows what filter is for what car and they actually had to order the BRZ filters in because I'm the first to hit the oil change mileage. I do make it a rule of thumb to either know the part number or look at the computer with them to point out which part I really need when ordering more complex stuff.

I used to order online as well but for anyone near Indianapolis Tom Woods subaru will hook you up just for being an enthusiast

Yep told the guy it was for a '13 BRZ. It even states it on my invoice. I can't do anything about the first one, but I'm going to take back the other three and complain a little. While there I can also ask about the TSB's and about some of the issues I'm having. Good thing I saved the receipt.

Thanks Thanks all!

Ok, so I just got off the phone with a guy from Subaru of Glendale. I mentioned that I purchased 4 filters for a '13 BRZ and I received 4 15208-AA15A filters, but that my car had a 15208-AA130 filter on it and why there was a discrepency. He, right off, stated that the AA130 filters are for 2011 Foresters and that the BRZ should be using the "NEW" AA15A filters. He also said that he's going to call SOA and is going to get back to me with more info. So I guess I'll just have to wait and see. I'll get back to y'all with the info I get from him. Stay tuned...
