Sound tube or no sound tube?
Anybody that likes the sound tube is a FOOL!

I think I am being misunderstood here. My fault. What I am saying is that if it is to the point where you HATE the car and can't enjoy anything else, based on a torque dip, and that is the world to you, do what you need to to get around it, or go with something else. I completely agree with you that driving outside of the torque dip is the way to go, if it means that much, and for those who can't, it should not be such an issue that the car is no longer fun to drive.

Funny you should say that, I was at my first 86 meet up here in Ak, and I was telling people about the differences between my car and theirs (only 2017 in the state so far). And one of the guys almost had a coronary when I told him that the sound tube doesn't bother me. I drove it with the cigarette lighter plug covering it, and I liked it better with out. Sure its 'artificial' but its authentic, its better that noise pumped through the speakers.

Edited to provide proof of a Alaska 86 club...

Tcoat, it wouldn't have bothered me if you were serious about it. What I love about this platform and that each person can take it and make it their own. Either take it for what it is, or make it something that no one even thought possible (or rational).

WRT torque dip, and just coming out of break in I think the dip gives the car a dual personality or nature, the car is perfectly livable for day to day driving between 1k-4k with the new gear it still pulls nicely. But on spirited days I try to drive the car as if 4k is my new idle rev and wind it out every chance I get.

Didn't mean to start yet another torque dip complainer thread (but I should have know) I was personally just comparing it to my S2000, 2.5k-3.8k is so much more torquey in the BRZ and being in there so much during the break in the car feels decently fast so I forgot about the torque dip until I hit 1k miles and I was like oh... If you stay under 4k (I had rev beeper set to 3800) it feels like the car is going to be way faster once you can finally rev it out, but it's not.

There's no problem with the torque dip. Yeah, it sucks, but if you plan on hitting the gas, you should be downshifting anyways, otherwise you're putting too much load in the wrong gear and you'll end up doing damage in the long run.

Sure. I hope it's a misunderstanding of some sort. Not directed at you, just in general.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with operating inside the torque dip, either cruising, or climbing to the top of a mountain, no harm.
