Not really common, but at the Wendy's Drive thru I got: That the Toyota - Oh, no, it is the Scion.

Me: It'll be Toyota soon.

Wendy's Person: *Head Nod

Me: *Drives off

I hope the 86 sells really, really well and people who never knew the FR-S was a thing will be like 'what the fuck is a Scion!?'

That is already what I get around here. We only got a local Scion dealer in late 2012 so they are pretty scarce. Since they never really advertised locally most people have never even heard of them. "What is a Scion?" is probably the number one question I get asked. I get asked it a lot!

A Scion FR-S parked next to a Subaru BRZ parked next to a Toyota 86 will be a funny sight.

"I've never seen a scion that looks like a porche before."--said by the same guy twice

"You should have got the Subaru, it's AWD."

"Is it fast?" me-no not really "So it's all about the looks huh?"

"You could have got a coyote mustang for that." I've lost count of how much I hear this. When I explain I've had 3 mustangs the usual response is "So?"

"It doesn't have steering wheel controls. I thought all scions have steering wheel controls."--me, I like that about it.--Them, looking at me like I'm insane.

"That looks like the Genesis coupe, but better. You should have got the genesis though."--WTF?

"The seats make my sides hurt."--person smaller than me

"You should sell it and get a wrx/You should have got a wrx." Lost count of how much I've heard this.

"If it takes premium why is it so slow."

"I thought you said it handled good, but this rides really rough." *facepalm

"It's a cute little car."--Every girl that drives a p.o.s.

"Aren't you mad that they're coming out with a turbo version?"--me, They aren't/Why would I be mad? "Why wouldn't you?"

This is my favorite. Non-car-people, or the even better, slightly educated kind-of-car-people thought process. If its not straight line fast, its just suppose to look pretty? There couldnt possibly be another purpose for the car.

To share a fun stoplight conversation I had...

Base 2010-2014 Mazda 3 sedan full of high school kids and their assumed girlfriends roll up next to me at a stop light before a long bridge.

Passenger - "wanna race?"

Me - "No"

Passenger - "how slow is that thing?"

Me - "incredibly"

Passenger, now realizing assumed girlfriends arent impressed, and now letting down the act and trying to comfort me like im sad about my car?
"Well, i heard theyre really fun"

Me, adding to his awkward stumble - "No, just incredibly slow, thanks"

And that was the end of that exchange.

Yeah that used to be my blanket reply for most things in life, now I find it easier to just shake my head and walk away.
