In my experience Edmunds has been very reliable with things like this but we will see.

The JDM F20 actually makes 247 so 250 on a 2 liter N/A is definitely within reach.

Yea. Right.
I fail to see how 3 more HP is uncreachable if another motor has already achieved 247 from a N/A 2.0L. Maybe Honda is just that much better than Toyobaru? I doubt it. Maybe a thoughtful response might be better than mindless BS?

think about what your comparing a I4 2.0 vs H4 2.0, I'll give you a sample, a 2009 2.5liter NA flat 4 makes 170bhp. the last 2.0liter subaru made 125bhp GD chassis with turbo 227bhp.

Well damn, that's my fault then for comparing the two. My above statement then was null and void.

one of the ej20 2.0 liter n/a variants sold in japan makes 190hp. 200 hp sounds doable, but 250 hp n/a out of a 2 liter would mean they would have to go for broke and deck the engine out to the max. the honda f series makes almost 250 hp but that thing is seriously decked out with some incredible technology, and it kinda sacrifices low end torque.

Honda makes the best flowing heads in the business. Honda's F20 makes 240HP. The K20 makes 200.

Toyota's 2ZZGE makes 180. That's with all their trick VVTL-i and good heads. Lotus manages to ratchet it up to about 190, that's with 1.8L.

Subaru makes inefficient heads and their boxer engines have never made tons of HP. They're designed for mid range power, and they're quite good at that. They aren't however high revving screamers. The 2.5L H4 in my 2.5RS makes about 160 at the crank, max Tq is @ 4K RPMS. Redline is at 6250.

Subaru's own 2.5L TURBOCHARGED H4 makes 265HP. So they're going to drop .5L, remove the turbo charger and only lose 15HP. Subaru's NA 2.5L H4 makes 170HP. So again, drop .5L and add 80HP.

Neither Toyota or Subaru has engines in their stable that lead me to believe they could develop a 250HP 2.0L H4. Even with VVTL-i, DI, super trick heads...

lets face it, flat 4 w/o turbo is like chich and chong w/o drugs its not fun. thats why when AE86 people found out that flat 4 will be powering this car they have mix emotions, for me i welcome it i just hope they push the engine way back to the firewall. wait do subaru have a 2.0 liter motor right now?

The Impreza 2008 model + has 3 engine choices ranging from the 1.5 @ 107bhp, 2.0 @ 150bhp, and the 2.5 @ 170 all N/A, however the 2.5T @ 224bhp.

This may not be 100% accurate, but its sure damn close

To make 250 hp this motor will need very good vvt and great internals, but it's not impossible. I believe it has direct injection, which the f20 lacks, so that could make up the additional 10hp. I agree that 250 sounds a bit ridiculous, but I don't think it is impossible. The thing that worries me is that Subaru is giving their motor more power than Toyota because the Subie will be heavier. The motor is the same size and will probably be making simliar toque. A heavier car really needs more torque for drivablilty, not high revving hp.
