I'm still wondering if a stock gutted header would pass the OBD2 scan. Trying to find more information about it, ready diagnostics or some crap. I miss catless header sounds

Where are you located. It would take me 2 mins to check and see if its actually possible or not. PM me if you want to try it. We won't be actually testing the car just want to check and see what happens to the monitors after a tune

I'm going to try and get a cutback exhaust with a front pipe, hopefully it won't be loud enough and pass smog in the future. Has anyone taken the new Works CARB legal turbo kit stage 2 to a smog shop yet? I'm thinking about grabbing that kit being it's the only turbo that's carb legal.

Since the smog station only checked OBDII I was able to pass the BRZ with high flow cat. Everything in engine bay was put to stock tho so nothing visual to catch the tech's eye.

As long as you have the proper documentation then it shouldn't be an issue. I pass a referee with my supercharger, but everything else was bone stock.

Catchcan is illegal? I mean AN fittings are shiny and all, but what if you still have an OEM pcv system and stuff?

Catch can would require a CARB label because you are modifying the PCV system which is a tamper meaning no CARB label then they can fail you on the visual unless you get lucky and tech doesn't know what that is.

That sucks.. least its easy to disconnect.. would I have to change the whole valve cover (if catch can fittings are on valve cover) or would I get away with just closing off the AN fittings or whatever fittings you're using

It shouldn't be a problem but that is up to the tech if he wants to make it a big deal or not. Usually if it is just a fitting which is capped off and nothing is hooked to it I would just ignore it. |
