Wrong. First off there's nothing "new" about the R35 anymore. They probably should have come out with a new model by now. Also, Corvettes and 911's now outperform it, and arguably matched it even when it was new.

It's not a 32, 33 or 34, so to me it's the new GTR.

Here we don't have new ADM Corvettes, never will now that GM has gone bust, and a used 2015 import on the local car sales cost on average 200k, a new Porka 911 costs between 400k to 1 million, model dependant.

A new GTR here costs 200k.

Which model corvette and 911 are you talking about.

I should have stated, here in AU it's the best bang for buck in it's price range.

Like everything, opinions may vary, but price and performance are fixed.

The "Skyline" ended with the R34.
Anything after that was just a rebadged Infinity.

"Skyline GT-R" was a reserved trim name for the top of the line model.

The R35 is just a GTR and as far as I'm concerned is a whole new independent car.
And yes it's ugly....

Makes sense. You guys have some strange pricing on different cars. I was referring to the C6Z and the new base 911 and up in most parts of the world. I wouldn't be surprised to see a C7 GS mop it up on a track despite the huge power deficit.

We definatly get hit hard with government import tax on new cars.

Not so bad with vehicles from Asia, but anything from the US and Europe and the Government digs in deep with their "luxury" tax.

I wish it was differnt, our local production series is poor due to limited ADM vehicles available.

The biggest series we have is the V8 super cars (like NASCAR but with corners), that is dying a prolonged death as both Ford and GM local plants have closed due to the government geting sick of throwing billions of dollers at them to keep them afloat.

And it's not the GM or Ford cars were inovative, or even good quality, they kept pushing old tech and fat 4 door NA V8's.

The production sports car series is a good watch though.

It's pretty tragic that the Australian government is so anti-car, and hell, anti-industry of late. Insane price increases in energy cost does you no favors, and driving out the auto industry was one hell of a blow.

I'd say we have it lucky here in the US, but it's really a function of government. Key being not to let them expand control excessively. (cough cough, CA & VA...)

Anything that came after is basically a French car.

Everyone who hasn't owned a old 32,33, 34 Skyline loves them.

People who own, or have owned one, deal with them.

They were good in their day though.

Back when 300ish hp was something good.

I love the saying, "If you cannot afford to buy two Skyline GTR's you cannot afford to buy one".

I may be slightly jadded IRT this, my R33 Skyline spend more time getting built and then fixing everything that kept breaking than it did on the road.

My gearboxes were considered as consumables.

And I don't even want to start on their oil control issues.

It was a love hate relationship for all the years I had it.

I have no experience as they weren't imported to US, but it sounds like yours was modified. Would there have been reliability issues if the car was left stock?

Stock cars and low rpm are OK, once you start pushing alot of issues arise.

The stock cars are slow and don't handle really well.

But like anything, if you throw enough money at it it will be fun, till it breaks.

Jump onto "Skylines Australia" web site if your interested.

Was the GTR ever pretty? It is a typical four door family saloon that they made into a two door godzilla. You all might like the old versions better than the new version, but it was no NSX.

The Godzilla before Godzilla with HICAS and GT Auto Spoiler and ABS so it had always been a high-tech pig.

Of course the original Skyline wasn't even a Nissan it was a Prince.
