I was never good with these models... kudos to the great build thread, looks awesome. Can't wait to see it done! The first, only, and probably last model I did was a C5 Corvette... I was like 10 years old and had no experience with spray paints, I held the nozzle 2cm from the body and the paint ran like it was raining. You're lucky too... you have a booth and spray gun.

Anyways I'm just waiting for Autoart, Kyosho, or any other good die-cast manufacturer to make one so I can buy one! (Looking to get 1:18 scale)

all the sellers on ebay are from either Japan or Hong Kong. you end up paying about the same if you buy it from a domestic store on amazon.

i like to spray with my airbrush almost everything and then small details only with a brush. for example, the rad was spray painted but the fans were brushed... in the engine bay, only the oil filter and oil cap were brushed and same goes for the pulleys....all the rest is sprayed, i usually tape everything or use a product called maskol which is rubberish, you simply apply it with a brush on parts were you dont want the spray to stick and then peel it off... in the process you have to determine which colors will be done first...

i like to paint the light colrs first and dark colors last...an exception would be silver... silver sticks and looks so much better when applied on a black surface... when i painted the engine and fender liners, i started by priming everything in white, then i painted the whole part in red. once it was dried out, i taped up whatever was to stay red and then i painted the whole thing in black...once dry i taped up what was to be left black and sprayed the aluminum color for the engine. once dry, i removed all the tape and i brushed the green top plates yellow oil cap, and then mixed some red and white to get a kind of pink for the oil filter to mimick the HKS filters...

another trick is that once everything is painted and dry, i remove the paint where glue is to be applied, if not, parts will eventually fall off..

last note, whenever you are installing glass components, made of clear plastic, use regular white glue, this will prevent the parts from frosting... just use some masking tape to hold the parts in place till they dry and then peel away carefully... more to come if there is any interest!

i like badger, they are fairly cheap and pretty good quality but nothing close to an iwata...there is some single action and double action, i prefer double.. the single action airbrush will spray paint as soon as you press on the trigger and you have to change the nozzle to achieve a small or large spray pattern... a double action will only shoot air when you press on the trigger and then will let paint come out as you pull the trigger back towards you.. this allow you to do pretty much everything with a single nozzle

hope this helps!
