Have to wait and see the full pictures from the NY auto show....interested in details on the change in gearing, if it was internals or just the final drive.

I'm not feeling any of the exterior changes...but at least they got the color right.

Also, still on Primacys in the photos.

It's nice to see a refreshed look for 2017, but IMO I don't think it's that great looking.

More then that. People complained about Scion's monospec and pure price policies but they kept the price down.

I have been saying for over a year that they are done with the 'cuz racecar crowd and have been slowly building the car up to hit broader demographics. They are now turning it into a true GT cruiser type vehicle and with each succeeding generation it is going to get further from what it started out as. We have seen this happen to many others (Eclipse, Celica, ah shit the list is endless). I am not saying that the older ones are "better" or the new "worse" just that they are different and meant to appeal to a wider group.

Disappointed they got rid of the character line that runs from the chin up the front fenders. IMO it's one of the most distinctive elements of the exterior design which has been there since the first concept.

Agree with others about the rear bumper. Strangely enough I didn't notice that but once seen, cannot be unseen.

Wheels are meh. Again prefer the current ones.

Oh and someone sent me a shot of the new steering wheel. Are you ready?

Toyota has usually done decent jobs on refreshes but I guess this isn't one of them! Though what can one expect with cars like the new Prius.

That steering wheel is gross. Looks like they're incorporating Bluetooth into it as well. Why keep the stalk cruise then incorporate that in to the wheel as well, lol. When are the actual auto show photos coming out? lol.

That's from the press release. Does it not read like that is the gear change and bump in power only for the manual? Maybe I'm reading it wrong.

Just bad wording I believe. The HP increase is not going to be just the MT. Should have been two different sentences not "and".

Looks like I shouldn't wait too long and get myself a 2016 FRS as long as they are available. The alternative is: not so good appearance changes, nominal increase in power, and probably more than nominal increase in price.

But as stated before what about 2020! Then there might be an actual redesign! Might as wait until then! only 3 years away!

Oh and I love how they were like we were going to keep the name "FRS" but by popular demand we're changing it to "toyota 86"....Like some toyota employes were trolling Facebook or forums and listening to all the D bags who are like man it should be called the 86! Harchikos! JDM as fuck!.....

BREAKING NEWS from Toyota:

Quote:
PLANO, TX (SEWERS) - Cowabunga, millenials. We heard you loud and clear, dudes. What hip youths want is more power, more features, and totally radical ways to deliver the pizza that funds your car payments. We've added five shell-kicking horsepower, gnarly steering wheel buttons, and a Teenaged Mutant Ninja Turtles color pallette officially licensed by New Line Cinema. You like turtles, right? Righteous!

IMO, this Toyota 86 redesign is gonna kill their sales & end the vehicle. They F'd up on this one. Looks horrible like a frog or turtle. Watch Subaru is gonna do something great to the new BRZ & continue on with the vehicle. Who gives a crap of 5 extra horsepower. 1st Gen wins!!!
