Sorry, just now saw this. I did get on for a couple hours last night but spent most of that trying Iron Banner and working on loot/leveling up. Did do another Tiger Strike mission. WTF is it with people dropping out right at the beggining? It seems like everytime I do something where you get paired with 2 other Guardians, one drops out right at the start everytime. Maybe their spider sense just tingles about my incompetence?

I have to admit that I enjoyed Iron Banner more than I thought I would. Had my best PvP match since playing Destiny. Some of those guys hit hard, I know somethings are "leveled" but I'll get a couple hits on someone and BAM one hit on me and I go down.

So a couple questions. I've maxed out my Titan Striker sub-class, haven't started working on the Defender sub-class. What's the advantage, if any, to working on the sub-classes? I equipped it for about 2 minutes last night and then realized I didn't even have grenades so it seemed like taking a step backwards. I'm sure there has to be some reason to work on it right? Does it help with your light level?

Also, what's the best way to get ascendant shards and strange coins? I know a few missions state that you can get strange coins as a reward, I still haven't figured out how the ascendant shards actually drop. Where are you all learning this stuff? Trial and error, going to Bungies website, word of mouth, etc? I got an ascendant shard as a reward last night for getting three gold stars on a public event, so obviously that is one way you can get them.

People drop out because it's randomized, and they might run into a strike that takes more than 15 minutes to do. So they'd rather spend ten minutes doing the queue over and over again than 30 minutes in a strike...

I've had the opposite experience. I'm getting fucking ruined in Iron Banner. Then again, I've noticed the matches I'm in I end up going up against semi-to-full fireteams, which happens far less in regular crucible.

Defender is great for support. My friend switches to defender spec when we're going to do a boss fight. Bubble has saved us several times.

Strange coins, nightfall, weekly heroic. Ascendant materials you get from engrams, or random rewards in pve/pvp, or your first gold in a public event of the day. Also from scrapping legendary gear.

Iron banner is really hit or miss. Mostly miss, unless you have a fireteam for it.

my best match i went 18 and 6 with 9 captures. BUT one of those deaths was from a lvl 5 with a shotgun :P

Finished the raid last night. I got the raid Rocket launcher, chatterwhite (again), and shards/energy :P

Hopefully one of my alts has better luck.

Lol depends on the strike, sometimes you get the same one over and over again (Archon Priest for me) and then I quit.

I have both my Hunter classes maxed out, I change them when i feel like mixing things up. There's no real point if you like the Striker. I originally did it because I felt like i was wasting EXP when i turned in bounties.

Ascendant Shards - Public events (at least 1 per day) and buying equipment with marks and dismantling it seem to be the best ways.

Strange coints - the weekly strike on hard (lvl28) will give you 9, other than that RNG rewards for strikes and crucible and sometimes engrams

I did about 5 iron banner matches last night. Oh boy was I terrible when I started, but by the 4th match I had a positive K/D ratio and I actually contributed to the win.

My not-so-secret tactic was to follow people who seemed to know what they were doing, especially if they seemed like they were a group or clan. Knowledge of the maps goes a long way and these guys have it.

I kinda ran into this last night... Did the Earth strike against Sepiks Prime and got paired up with two other lvl27s. They both peeled off and started farming in the first area with the Acolytes and Knights. WTF?

So after a few minutes of confusion, I took off and tried the strike solo. Well I got overwhelmed at the decode battle, and everyone respawned there. I thought they'd stick around but NOPE, they took off back to the beginning area! I completed that spot, and went on to fight the walker solo. I was one-shotted with a rocket when he was down to 10%, and again they respawned with me at the walker, ang AGAIN they peeled off back to the beginning. WTF WTF WTF???

I bailed and found another group.

The sub-classes are essentially a completely different wat to play that character. Like Warlocks have Voidwalker as the default (and does void damage) and Sunsinger as the sub, which does solar damage. The powers are different, the buffs are different, and it gives you another way to develop your character. You can switch back and forth and basically two different characters, even do one for agility, the other for armor, etc. If you picked the Defender sub class from the beginning, then you'd have levelled it up instead, and switching to the Striker would feel weak and underpowered until you levelled it up the same.

Ah, this one. This is people that are too lazy to start at the patrol spawn point and make their way to a certain spot, and they just pick the nearest event and then take off from there. Or people that are trying to afk the strike without dying bounty. If you die in a darkness zone when the others aren't there, it counts as a party wipe and they get a death. Good to know if you've got the AFKer not contributing 'cause you've just nuked their chance at the bounty. If you have people that keep running off, keep dying. It'll port them back every time and it's a good annoyance for those trying to game the system.

Personally, I don't really see why you can't just start patrol at any point and this would solve the issue. I mean, you do have a ship. That can take you to any of these points in any other cases.. but whatever.

Wow that's really lazy. And really inconsiderate. Especially considering that area only takes about a minute or two to reach.

That's exactly what I did too. I played 3 matches. Got nuked the first match pretty bad. The second one was my best, had 12 kills, 2 assists and I died twice if I remember right. The third one was so so. I do like the emblems for Iron Banner so going to try and pick one up in the next couple of days.

LOL, yep everytime it's one dude peels off and goes somewhere else and I'm like WTF? Obviously it happens to a lot of people because I've noticed usually the other guy is looking at you and vice versa and once he realizes you're actually down to do the strike you both take off together. The guy last night saved my bacon several times. I was having a bad night, it was the one where you have to fight both the Vex and the Fallen and at the end that Fallen dude pops out of the big metal egg. I ended up down in the pit a few times, not where you want to be.

Thanks for the info, I wish I had started the Defender sub-class awhile ago. I can see where the shield would be of use in the strikes when you're getting that bum rush of minions.
