Stance coils: 6k/7k

4 clicks from full stiff front. Full stiff rear.

I'm going to go to new Stance coils with swift springs in the future most likely. 8k/9k springs.

My spring rates are 7 all around, but they're too soft IMO. I'd like to try 9 or 10

So I'm thinking of running 235/40 federals in the front and 205/45/17 federals in back. Any thoughts. Looking for more front grip and less rear

Not to thread jack but wanted to say what's up to everyone and thanks for all of the useful information in the thread. I was heavily involved as a "drift car" builder years ago but fell away from the scene. Now that I've got an FRS I'm getting back in to it. Coilovers are here, now it's just time to make up my mind on wheels and install diff risers and increase the steering angle.

How do y'all feel about an 8.5+22 for inner clearance? I'm thinking I'll have miles of room but haven't spent any real time under the car yet.

*edit* Also, is anyone running a hydro/dual rear caliper setup yet? I saw it mentioned in a couple posts from @THA STI GUY but never saw anything materialize. If not I can pull my car apart next weekend (garage still full/unpacking from recent move) and take some measurements. I'll post the CAD drawings on here and people can get them water/laser/cnc cut to their desire.

Its funny you mention that i was just going to post about it in my other thread i ended up picking up a hydro ebrake handle and two wilwood calipers from a guy in denver off his drift car. I will be building some brackets to make these calipers work on my car only crappy thing is unless someone buys the same cailpers as me the design wont will work as well but at least you guys will have a rough draft after i get mine dont and see how i plan to do mine. may still be a couple weeks before i start on that project because i just picked up a full blown turbo kit and i in the middle of installing that and getting tuned in the next couple weeks before the season realy starts up here.
couple pics of the goods i picked up

Neat, I'm curious to see what you come up with. The brackets I'll post on here will be for OEM calipers as honestly they should have enough braking force, if not the bolt on brembos sure will. I'm supposed to go look at a brembo set pulled off a totaled 09' STI this weekend, if they aren't trashed I'll pick them up. I was just going to reuse my OEM rears for the hydro ebrake.

The ASD handles are nice. If you haven't used one before I'm sure you'll like it.

With my driver skill level right now I'm sure I won't be able to utilize the car to it's fullest extent, even right now. I'm just seriously opposed to drum ebrakes.

The Drifting Thread

If a cad design came out using two oem calipers that would be phenomenal. You can pick oem ones up for cheap with people upgrading now

In ref to your question. I'm running a 8.25 +25 and haven't seen any issues

8.5 +22 is fine for inner clearance and will look nice.

Hydro handbrake isn't needed. Mine has yet to let me down and I've done 10 or more drift days. My ae86 has a dual caliper setup hydro handbrake, and I don't think the oem handbrake in the gt86 is much different.

Hydro handbrakes are for cars with piss weak oem handbrakes, ae86, schassis etc.

There's actually a section at one of the variations my local track runs where I've just gone round a fast left hander at top of 3rd, and linking in to a tighter left hander. I use the handbrake to scrub off speed, and if I try to use 3rd again it bogs down no matter how much I kick it.

So what I do is when I've got the car scrubbing and in the line I need, I leave the oem handbrake locked up, quickly do my change into 2nd, so once I'm then done with scrubbing and back in gear, I'm in the gear I need to be.

Wouldn't be able to do that section without that wee trick.

Won't be so much of an issue with turbo, I'll just hold 3rd easy. But NA, you don't have too much of a window where 3rd can be used.

Thanks for the advice. I'm almost 100% of my experience is S chassis with, like you said, piss poor oem handbrakes that are crazy expensive to replace shoes on. I'll probably still draw up the brackets but not make this a personal priority yet.

Thanks for the info. I'll post the cad drawings in a week or so once I get some garage space opened up from my recent move. I get bored at times and enjoy drafting/design.

Picked up the car, getting used to it.
Love the chassis, hate the engine.
Couple minor things like the accelerator pedal don't seem to fit the otherwise awesome cabin either. Not sure about you guys, but me no likey for heel-toe.
What else... Gas mileage is good, even going at 180+ kph for extended period of time still gets 22 mpg. Not sure what top speed is, but 200 k (120 mph) is a piece of cake and car doesn't feel like it's working hard.
Not sure why the cruise won't work over 90 mph... that's a PITA, but oh well.

First extremely basic mods on the car. Can't wait to find time to take it to the track and really get to know the car, but overall happy with the addition.
Going to make for a nice drift build, that's for sure!
