Usually I don't believe official factory numbers until they're independently verified myself... Particularly curb weights and weight distribution (latter of which the official numbers have *always* been more optimistic than reality). In any case, we are here on these forums to talk about cars, share our thoughts, and yes, at times to speculate a bit. If that bugs you so much why not just hang out at the Subaru and Toyota sites all day and wait for "official" info to be "officially" disbursed? |

That was my immediate thought. The current model's CG was already just 46 centimeters (18 inches). Given that it can't be below the bottom of the car, there isn't a lot of room for movement there and still be road driveable.

Anyone else stoked to see the wing replaced with the duck tail? I expected it but was still happy to see it.
Anyone else notice that the BASE new Civic has a turbo and more power? I get all their arguments but as the rest of the industry marches forward this car will still feel comparatively underpowered, even with the new stronger engine, and ESPECIALLY at altitude. I need to test drive it at home between 9,000-11,000ft before buying to see if it has enough torque to break the tires loose in 2nd gear without a clutch pop. |

Well it depends on where it falls in height on the car. If above the line it will lower it. If below the line raise it. My knowledgeable assessment it is would raise or lower it .00000001 MM.
Data for this assessment was pulled outta my ass so 100% correct!

Did I see somewhere that the Base trim will still have 17s? I feel like 18s on this platform end up with too little rubber for regular streets.

The press release states the wheelbase increased by 0.02", which is inaccurate. Ditto the typo regarding the height delta. Like @ZDan said; press releases are occasionally incorrect, this isn't news. The press release even says it in bold: "Preliminary Specifications. All data estimated and not final." Reading the quotes you've taken out of the press release tells me you're searching for words to support a conclusion instead of inferring the most probable answers. Relax, the "final answers" will come in 9 months or so.

Who cares if the base Civic has more power? A quick look shows the base has a blistering 0 to 60 of 8.1. Even the R is only 5 and the only one that I would expect to be better than the Gen2. Stop playing the HP numbers game and look at the whole picture.
