I think the last thing they were saying the rough idle is due to the oil control valve that controls the vvti. How long ago did you change your oil. A bunch of people started having issues after oil changes.

Ah... really? I have 10100 miles right now. Got my oil changed at about 7000. Has anyone else heard this as well? Is there a fix for this? Yruyur thanks for the info, thats good to know. I will have to search around and see if this is becoming more and more apparent... God I hope this isnt the case...

I've done all my stuff at Goodspeed Performance Lab, in Scottsdale.

I'm not sure you're going to want to use their dyno for a baseline unless you've got a shop back home with a MAHA dyno. Comparing a before and after dyno chart on two different machines in two different environments is generally considered a no-no, and usually invalidates any changes you'll see.

But if you still want to do it, head up to Goodspeed, they had my FRS on the rack earlier this month.

Thats interesting, I am at 11k, had mine changed at 5k...had the car idle a little rough once, right before I loaded the tune on it, and haven't had it happen again.

Take the car to your favorite toyota dealership, tell them what issue you're having, let them mess around with it. The car is still covered under warranty so they'll do whatever they have to and get it fixed and you won't have to pay anything. Depending on the terms of your warranty, you'll get a rental car comp'd from them so you won't be stranded without a ride. they might reflash it again, they might replace the entire ECU, or they'll discover something new that we haven't seen yet. Its best to let that warranty you paid extra for do it's job.

And this Pscylo is why I need a tune since we are on that subject. Probably should just get it done anyways since I now have the intake and exhaust. I need to get some prices for it tho, and I also need an ECUTEK license...

I just did a baseline run with my cat-back installed (not worried about any claimed gains from that) and got:

184.9 HP 159 lb-ft

with the measured drivetrain loss, it came out to 157.4 whp and 138 lb-ft wheel torque. Max drivetrain loss was 32.5 hp @ 7215 rpm.

didnt dig electric scavenge pump, so nix that idea, good pricing, just too many parts

FBM its too rich for my blood(not the kit itself, but the whole finished product cost alot)

Vortech made sense under the hood and in my wallet, with 2 pulleys, so that is done deal.

Would like to check it out once you get it installed...have been tossing the options around. I grew up in the south, around Firebirds, Novas, Camaros, and Cobras...all SC...haven't had the chance to really get a feel for a SC on a 4banger...although this platform looks very promising.
