I was at an outlet mall standing near my FR-S and a guy walked by and said "that is a sexy car."

Gentleman with a '93 GT Cobra stopped beside me at a light and we talked for the duration. He asked about the price and was surprised but said it was fantastic for the price, for the amount he was gushing it certainly made me feel respected.
My mom had a '90 GT Cobra so I have mad respect for the old stangs and the classy sort of people that inhabit them. |

I really go unnoticed in my city, but when an enthusiast does actually see my car they freak out, and the number one question is " how much horsepower does it have? "

I just respond with "speed is subjective", politely smile, and change the subject.

I was getting gas late at night during my lunch break. A cop car made a U after I entered the station, pulled up close, gave a thumbs up and drove off. Few seconds later, a guy in his 40s who was idle next to me approached me and said how nice it looks...looks like a Ferrari etc. He knew what it was just never saw one in person. Asked me if I can stay just a bit to show his son that was meeting him there but had to clock back in. Yup, I had my Ice Cube moment

After reaching almost 5k miles on my FR-S in close to a 3 month ownership, I'd say that the average public does not give much notice to my FR-S.
On the other hand, I'm in the midst of my 2nd HPDE (in this car), and I must honestly say that the FR-S captures almost every track day participant's attention (all the way from Novices to Instructors). It is extremely surprising to me, and after speaking with many individuals (and instructors), some are likely considering buying an FR-S / BRZ in the future. Pretty cool feeling after buying a $25k sports that gets this much attention and respect from track enthusiasts who know and have heard plenty about the car.

Then a younger guy who has never seen an FRS or any Scion will look at it and say nice Subaru! Its funny how this car breaks all stereotypes or bridges across such a wide demographic. I mean most country folk love Subaru's, middle agers like me love sports cars (this is Better than a Miata), suburban kids like drifting and RWD "rice". My baby boomer parents, it reminds them of their treasured 80's BMW. The car breaks the mold. Last edited by regal; 09-30-2012 at 01:48 PM. |

1) Visited 7-11 only to find a hot/slutty looking asian girl standing right next to my car, looking directly at it. She kept making eye contact with me, saying literally NOTHING. I ignored her like a boss and drove off.
2) Drove by University of Hawaii. Group of guys in a truck were howling at my car. "FUCK YEAHH!!!! AAAWOUGHGOH!!" 3) Drove into waikiki. 9/10 japanese tourists were staring at my car. 4) Supposed performance cars always tailed me or paced around me to check out the car. This all happened in a span of 3 hours yesterday. |
