You're right it is in there under allowable mods for SP as long as they meet certain conditions.

Yes, that's the only fully legal wing/spoiler you can use for STX.

However I'd b surprised if anyone protests a glue on lip spoiler locally because we all know it doesn't do anything. BUT don't quote me on that.

14.2.F.1 and 12.3 are relevant.

Even though they are the same car, not sure if the fact that you are talking about a BRZ wing on a FR-S will be allowable as 12.3 references "make", and in this case one is a Subaru and the other is a Scion.

Are you saying the BRZ spoiler is in the accessories catalog? If it is then you could use it, if it's not then you can't.

The rear diffuser isn't legal for either car in STX. It's a port installed option on the BRZ and there is no allowance for a rear diffuser.

Yes both the deck lid spoiler and rear bumper diffuser are in the accessories catalog. If the diffuser is a factory accessory, I really cant see why i cant have it. It is not spt/sti/trd. Port installed?

F. Addition of spoilers, splitters, rear wings, bumper covers, valances,
side skirts, and non-functional sccops/vents is allowed provided that
either:
1. It is a production part which is standard or optional equipment of a
US model of the vehicle.
“Model” is defined in Section 12.3.
2. It is listed in the vehicle manufacturer’s US accessory catalog
for that vehicle for normal highway use. This does not allow for
parts sold through a manufacturer’s performance catalog (e.g.,
Ford Racing, HPD, MazdaSpeed, Mopar Performance, Mugen,
NISMO, SPT, TRD, etc).
Parts must be installed as directed by the manufacturer. Exact rep
-
licas (including weight) from alternate sources are also permitted.

Notice it doesn't say diffusers. There is not an STX allowance for diffusers, port installed, in a catalog, or otherwise.

Yeah when I looked at the rules last year, the rear diffuser, as useless as it might be, would bump you up to Modified.

Factory rear diffusers are legal in all classes, so port-installed versus factory makes a difference. It's an orderable item on the BRZ when you order the car, but the fact it's port installed makes it not legal.

Why wouldn't the Five-Axis lip spoiler be allowed? They're pre-installed on a TON of cars sitting at dealer lots. If you buy a car with it would you be forced to remove it?

Yes. If it's not in the OEM accessory catalog or installed as a factory item (meaning it was on the car when it went on the boat in Japan), it's not legal.

Mostly wrong. The 5 Axis piece is not OK unless it is a full OEM replica. More importantly:

The "Yes" part was in response to if he would have to remove it.

Did they change the port versus factory wording at some point? I thought there was a bunch of hulabaloo some years ago with the WRX/STi short-shifter because it was port installed? Or maybe I'm just getting old and mixing up dealer installed versus factory/port installed.

I have been aware of the rule for a number of years. I don't plan to search for old rulebooks to check when.
