Late to the party, but just got a call from the dealer that sold me my FR-S to check if I was still the owner.

They said they don't have the parts in yet, but will notify me when they do so I can bring it in.

Forgive me since I'm sure it's been asked already (easy to miss in 37 pages), but is this a motor-out situation on a boxer? I'm wondering if I should go ahead and have them do the spark plugs while they're in there.

Interesting. The springs themselves? o.0

From what I can tell it's just the differences between the motors require different things to be replaced it seems (gaskets, nuts, etc)

They're anticipating cutting off rusty parts for the sake of expediency, or just normal wear.

Wonder if it'd be much to have them replace spark plugs while they're in there...

the plugs are removed during the process, so you should only pay for the part.

I wouldn't count on them doing all sorts of free extra work no matter if the part has to come off anyway. They will receive very little from Subaru for doing the work and are not going to throw away money on doing extra work on 400,000 cars. Doesn't hurt to ask though since individual dealers may be fine with it. Just don't get all pissy if they say no since they are a business and do have to make money the same as any other.

it pays 12.5 (manual) or 13.8 (auto), that's less than FRM lol

Well doesn't that just sound totally reasonable... I Hope that you receive this level of customer service.

But, from my experience with local dealerships: They will charge for ANYTHING & EVERYTHING not covered under the recall.

I expect them to try and charge me for any additions. (like the spark plugs)

My dealership sucks: they ran my bumper into the curb last time I left my car with them. Then parked it so close to a wall that I didn't see the scrape on the passenger side till later that day. (I wondered why my car was parked funny; guess I should have checked it out better before driving off)

I called and they basically told me to prove it didn't happen after I left.

Thats so shady, I would never go back to that stealership. The few times I took my car to the stealership I was pissed they had to adjust every single part of the driver seat. Seat up down, back tilt, forward and back, then go and adjust the damn steering column. WTF they drove it like 40 feet from the garage to where I was standing, they did not test drive it. This was for those free oil changes when new.

I'm so not thrilled about taking my car in for this recall. I saw someone posted claiming that in some documentation they have if the spring where to fail then it would have likely done so in the first 3k. I asked to please post that image and still waiting.
