Front Air Duct..

I just had an idea for a front air duct..
Air duct is the pitch black hole. Will have to see what is behind the back of the front badge location though. May consider running some mesh behind it though.

Picture is pretty self explanatory. And before anyone mentions anything about hydrolocking the engine during rain, I always keep a roll of masking/painters tape in my car, always usefull. That will cover the front cavity of the bumper.

Update: Found an old pic of the FRONT of my car to compare with the STOCK/HKS picture. I think I will attack the front bumper tonight with a drill and a round bastard file.

INGs+ Fenders Installed!

FINALLY finished the install. Spent a good 30-45mins per side just removing the damn clips and trying my best not to break them. Fitment of the INGs+ is very good. That's what you get for it being JDM I suppose!

Being a newb and first timer to remove the fenders. I reckon a swap would take at least 1-1.5 hours per side. Also it's also more difficult if you have a side skirt like I did as part of that needs to be popped out because there is two bolt holes on the bottom securing the fenders. Fender install can be pretty much done solo imho. But if you have a side skirt, you'll prob need a pair of hands for 5mins just to muddle in the new fender so the bottom of it doesn't get scratched up.

Finished doing this install at around 5.00am in the morning. Still have to cut open my front bumper for my ducting mod. I also did a performance mod to my HKS cold air intake. Gives me an extra 13 kw.. as in Killa Wasps
Can you spot it in the picture below?? It won't be visible to the public since the bumper will cover *over* it, but I will know it's there. Gives me warm fuzzies thinking about it.

And the pics of the fenders.

Still have to pick up my 2nd boot and the Abflug Spiral 86 spoiler tomorrow. Just waiting on the damn VHB tape to arrive from over east. Worst case, I will have to buy some of the VHB 4949 locally at the ridiculous price of $115 for a 32.9m roll :/

Front bumper will be coming off AGAIN tonight, so I can cut out my TOYOTA badge, trim up an oval where it used to be, and use that gap as an addition to my cold air feed

my advice to you instead of cutting out the emblem which would look odd in my opinion to have a whole center mass is try something like this...

I decided against that too. As the rain would find it's way quite easily if I cut out the badge area. I decided to resort to some ducting similar to those classic Porsches. Might trim it so its an elongated oval like the ones on the 924's.

Here's this mornings effort. I was dead tired and sick. Kinda screwed it up, but I'll have to tidy it up later sometime.

Tune and Dyno Plot

I got my car dyno tuned yesterday, picked it up today.
168.1hp @ the wheels

I never bothered doing a 'base-line' run on my car as it was bone stock and couldn't be bothered wasting money on that. I took my car to Evolution-R and they are using BRZEdit/ECUEdit. They are half way doing a black 86 which is getting a HKS Supercharger, and fortunately they DID record a base-line power reading on a STOCK 86. The dyno plot for that car is on this graph also.

So with my mods and tune I managed 38+hp the rear wheels.

It's got 'launch control' @ 5krpms... I'm still debating on whether to keep it or remove it..

EDIT: More clarification on info.

Base "STOCK" 86: ~132 hp
My Modified 86: 168.1 hp
DELTA: ~36.1 hp

STOCK CAR DETAILS:
Toyota 86 GTS(Black) - NON MODIFIED
FUEL USED: Unknown

MY MODIFIED 86 DETAILS:
Intake
- HKS Cold Air Feed(with 3x ducting holes cut out in front bumper)
- TRD USA Intake

Exhaust
- HKS 4-2-1 Equal Length Headers(NO CAT), has O2 Sensor bung to fool computer there is a CAT
- MOTIV Concepts Overpipe
- MOTIVE Concepts Front Pipe(with HFC)
- HKS Spec-L Cat Back Exhaust

5K that sounds a bit high... Thought that is when you are a peak power so make sense.

What other features does the BRZEdit give you?

Yeah I figured that too. Not really a fan of it tbh, I prefer my car to run as close to stock as possible, albeit with the extra tuning/hp gains.
All that wanky shit like FF-shifting, LC doesn't appeal to me for some weird reason, maybe cos I feel like its the car that's doing the driving for YOU instead of you driving the car.

Not sure on what other features it is. The EcuTek software is definitely more comprehensive and has alot more feature than BRZ/EcuEdit though.

Late night boot swap, spoiler install

Managed to squeeze some time in tonight and swap over my boot lid.
Some pics:

Abflug Spiral 86 spoiler install
Test Fitment

Cutting up the VHB 4949 bodykit tape along the edges of the spoiler

I cut up a whole bunch of pull TABS. This is the CORRECT way to install it. I kinda stuffed up my CARSMO spoiler install on my other boot, so now I'm more educated to installing these kind of things

Finally Finished!

License plate installed

EDIT: Picture taken at work today

Nice work mate. One thing though...although the overall torque has increased, that 'dip' is still quite pronounced. Any idea why?

Not sure, I think it may be related with cams. I think I may wait until some Japanese branded aftermarket cams become available before taking the plunge on going supercharged. The car runs quite nicely now as it is.

Received my FT86Speedfactory lightweight battery kit. It's specifically made for the Braille B14115 AGE battery which I incidentally have

Some pics.. I flipped the label around as I prefer to keep the engine back looking OEM for some weird reason.

Best of all FT86Speedfactory have an install video for easy install
