to me some of the letters just look a little weird ... particularly the O, L, and E. I'm sure it is all personal taste though, and I see what you (or your coworker) were trying to do with the O... kind of carry over the kink from the Toyota 86 logo? The L could be longer, carry it over more horizontally at the bottom. The E is just too stylized IMHO. But I would like to see it slanted more to the left, elongated arms to indicate motion or speed.

Definitely a great effort though, don't take my criticism the wrong way please. I too see the 80's rock/metal band influence and that's not why I didn't like it... I've listened to my fair share of Def Leppard and Metallica.

Nah, I definitely appreciate the feedback, especially if its constructive. I definitely see what you're saying about those particular letters throwing it all off (though I kind of liked the "L" cause it reminded me of the state of California... but it was too small). I made a few small changes to the letters, simplified the E, and threw in the quarter shot of two cars with a twisty road leading into the 8. Once again, let me know!

I like the design Chris. Make it a dark silhouette-y material (probably expensive tho) and I could see giving up my entire driver side rear quarter window for it. Like those window advertisements. That being said, I have other ideas too...coffee topics.

At this moment, I ask PMok to start a new thread, sticky it, and call it NorCal 86 DRIVE. We can talk about what will go on the first page of it (reserve up to 4 pages/posts subsequent of the first page). I contemplated a few things thru 3 hours of driving yesterday. We are NorCal - basically the only single state on this site broken up into two regions. Let's capitalize on that. Let's get organized. Let's go driving. Seriously, NorCal is our home but if I have to thumb thru pages of links to see what other NorCalians are doing, I feel they are not getting their appreciations of postings and sharings of their actions towards this car. Make the thread, reserve some after the initial post, and we'll talk next week. Let the fire of this Sat subdue before giving PMok more to worry about.

Chris I like it a lot. One last nit ... can you make the last sun ray (closest to the redline) a little longer? Maybe switch out the middle ray with that one. That one looks too short to be at the end.

I'm not sure we need to do that... isn't that pretty much the purpose of this thread? I looked and you and I "own" the first 3-4 posts on this thread so we can just edit this one. I am just reluctant to start a new thread when this one serves that purpose already. Maybe we revamp the first few posts, then get it stickied, and go from there? At some point if we make this a truly regular thing then we can even set up a homepage of our own somewhere, that people can link to and check out what our next planned event is. But that's maybe too much work/logistics for me to embrace right now.

but as an inspiration, here is the one for weekly (Tues) meets for the NorCal MR2 guys... www.mr2sday.info they even have a poll to decide where to meet weekly.

The problem trying to translate that to a decal or a business card is that the cars become unrecognizeable. I'd love to see someone else take a crack @it but I couldn't do it.. Anyways, here is another idea-

Yeah, I think the text just needs to be shifted a few degrees clockwise.

The reason it's off center was to center the 86... due to that font being ummm... proportional? I can center it but then the 86 will be off center.

I also think it might look better even if 86 wasn't centered. Unless you added some graphic at the end or something to balance it out. Overall it looks good!
