It's that way everywhere man...If you took that mentality, then you might as well stop eating out at restaurants, shopping at grocery stores....etc. Because NO top Exec knows how to deliver a properly prepared dish, or scan grocery items at the check out. But what they know how to do is "manager/business" talk to where it relates to whom they are speaking to.
Agreed Dragon. Anyway, Jack Hollis is actually very genuine about the brand and the FR-S. Jack is a pretty cool guy and always supports us, on the dealer side, to the best of his ability. People don't know this but Akio Toyoda really wants Scion to stick around. However Toyota loses money on Scion. Because of the pure price, and low profit margin, Toyota is taking a hit because of the Yen's value. The fact that they are still going forward and trying to instill "passion" in the line is great thing.

regarding the www.************.com you do not make your deposit right away. After all who register, 86 will be chosen. Then, those who are chosen, will get an email with a confirmation code. Then you can place a $500 deposit at the dealership you chose.

People talk about how it's being used to "hike" up the price of the car. Whoever feels this...umm...(sorry for this)...don't be stupid. Scion has always had a low mark up profit margin, and NO hold back (yes no hold back, check it on edmunds.com, if you don't believe me). Average mark up on a non personalized Scion = <$600(xD) <$800(xB) <$1000(tC).. The FR-S will be no different, because of the design and pricing matrix. The car is expected to be around $25,000. I'm betting that it's around $24,000 for manual, $25,000 for automatic. And I'm betting that that's AFTER delivery. Howa re they going to "hike" the price? People have been assuming that the FT-86 will be around $30,000, before Toyota stated that Scion will get it and price bein the mid $20,000s. If at all this is just purely marketing studies and see which areas in the US are truly hard core about the car. If you want the car, but don't want to do this, it kind of doesn't make any sense. You're just hurting your chances of getting a car sooner than expected.

BTW: Infotainment and Navigation features wiill be upgrades, not standard! There have always been 3 grades of audio for Scion vehicles.

Um...it's Scion. What price gouging? Maybe on the Subaru side. But Scion has to post the price and stick to that price. And no dealership should price above sticker.

Boo to Scion.

It's seriously stupid they announce the First 86 sign-up list but don't announce a price.

Scion doesn't give anything substantial? Compared to what? Between longterm reliability standards, standard features, and 2 years of free maintenance, Scion both as a brand AND as a vehicle, has the most bang for your buck value, thanks to Toyota underpining. The current tC alone has more to offer than other cars in it's price range. And please no one talk genesis. Different market and way more expensive. Mazda Miata is the only real competitor in the small platform, RWD coupe. I like Toyota and Scion. Been a Toyota family, and the tC was my 1st new car. And have no problems whatsoever. I've crunched the numbers. Scion keeps it simple, makes the purchase rpocess easy, AND offers a lot of value with a vehicle rich with plenty of standard features, that other manufacturers are just now starting to incorporate.

Thats the thing, in the scion pure pricing thread, it basically that the sticker price is whatever they (that specific dealer)want it to be, just as long as all the same model cars are priced the exact same at the same time. Basically all tc's on the lot are all $19k or whatever they are charging at that time.

Sounds like Subaru will only have one standard audio system (8 speakers). Will there be an upgrade option?
