Nice setup. Did you eliminate the throttle body cooling like I did? It looks like one of your coolant hoses is going to the vertical pipe on the back of the block and the other is going to the water channel that runs under the intake manifold. I didn't realize you had the intake modified to pull vacuum on your catch can along with also recircing the BOV.

Is your center section supposed to be clocked like that?

Yes sir, got rid of it on day one. Recirced the BOV...but it hardly made any difference unfortunately. It's maybe 10% quieter at best. Being in California, I was trying to fly under the radar.

I learned the hard way the intercooler piping is different on the BRZ. I picked up some BRZ headlights the other day and the effort that went in to making those things fit man...

His is a little less vertical than mine, but it should still allow the oil to drain just fine and angles the drain fitting toward the oil pan.

In all of my installs ive made certain to clock the center section as vertical as possible. Build up of pressure in the center section from a poor oil return will push out the oil seal. Ive been told +/- 30*.

If the kit was designed this way, I can assume the oil return is large enough. And im also assuming there is a restrictor in line preventing volume accumulation.

The kit does come with an oil restrictor, and I don't think his is more than 30 degrees from vertical. I also paid special attention to clocking it as vertical as I could during my install, but I don't have any real good photos of it:

That looks perfectly acceptable. Maybe its just the picture he took, but if you look at the base of the oil feed connection to the center section and reference to the charge pipe, its getting pretty close.

I would be cautious. Imo.

Is this turbo both oil and water cooled?

I got the GTX28 turbo with my Premium kit, is it oil and water cooled, or just oil cooled?

All the Garrett GT/X series turbos are both oil and water cooled.
