I'm not positive but I think Mobile 1 and Amsoil are still the only true synthetics out there. I could be wrong, haven't researched it in years. *True* meaning Group IV (4) dont need Viscosity additives like type III(3) petroleum based "Synthetics".

I know they definitely have the oem synthetic there. I have a couple Subaru master-tech friends. I'll ask them what they think.

Anyone have an opinion on Royal Purple 5-30 for the FRS/BRZ?

I probably wouldn't recommend running Royal Purple unless you're racing.

I also would stick to either Mobil 1 or OEM oil if you're daily driving.

Needing to get radio head install 2 p.m. @ Luther/Minnetonka, probably an hour or so, then checking a couple stations for non-oxy 93, thence on to Grimm - need to be in Medina by 6 p.m.

Yeah I'm game for a drive. If anyone wants to meet earlier at the shop that works too. I'm down whenever.

In my experience, Royal Purple tends to be much better for heat resistance on cars that are running at max rpm's. If there is a lot of change in the rev range, the oil doesn't circulate well enough through the motor to keep all of the parts lubricated.

But the people that told me that could've been bs'ing me...either way I'd never choose it over Mobil 1 or the OEM oil since it's in the same category as those and Rotella, Castrol Syntec, & Amsoil.

So when is the "official" time to meet at the shop? I have a couple errands to run today and would like to know when to expect to head over...
