H. Longitudinal (fore-aft) subframe connectors (“SFCs”) are permitted
with the following restrictions: 1. They must only connect previously unconnected boxed frame rails on unibody vehicles. 2. Each SFC must attach at no more than 3 points on the unibody (e.g., front, rear, and 1 point in between such as a seat mount brace or rocker box brace). 3. SFCs must be bolted in place and not welded. 4. No cutting of OE subframes or floorpan stampings is permitted. Drilling is permitted for mounting bolts only. 5. No cross-car/lateral/triangulated connections directly between the driver’s side and passenger’s side SFCs are permitted. Connec - tions to OE components such as tunnel braces or closure panels via bolts are allowed and count as the third point of attachment. No alteration to the OE components is permitted. 6. SFCs may not be used to attach other components (including but not limited to torque arm front mounts or driveshaft loops) and may serve no other purpose @FastWhite basically only fore to aft only no side to side. i havent found any that meet the rules. spend the money on wheels and tires also stuff to make your alignment take advantage of the tires |

So this is a strange question. I'm running 245's on an 8" RPF1. I'm thinking of selling them and buying 9"s. Is it really worth it? I get it, a slightly SLIGHTLY bigger contact patch. But is there some sidewall trickery going on as well?
I came from the STi world where I just put 245's on my stock BBS's (17x8) and it worked fine. Thats why I didn't think to buy a 9" in the first place. Then I go to a prosolo and everyone has them.

A 9" under the 245 should provide stiffer sidewall (slightly) as well I believe. Big help for the soft sidewalled RS3 (Not sure what tire you are on though)

I'm on Rivals. I think I may get Z2's or RS3's next year. Not sure yet. The Rivals are alright, but take forever to cool down and are worthless launching and in the rain. I think I'll go for a 9". That way I can stuff a 255 if I really want. Thanks for the insight guys.

Your wheel offset has something to do with it too. Under compression, I bet it rubs but only when HARD on brakes while turning full lock (never good) or during a bump. I bet if you're BARELY rubbing you can use a 3mm to clear it for good.

Quick question, autox for first time tomorrow. Not entirely sure what will and wont pass tech as far as tires go. I don't care about being competitive being a first time. Just looking to have fun and get an idea of how things are done,
I have 2 sets of wheels, stock: with recent bf sport comp 2 in oem size, great shape, planning on changing these tires over to gfs vw once the tires on other set of wheels are replaced. other set: 17x8 rpf1 on some unevenly worn dunlop sp01 in 224/45, they were basically a throwin on the wheels considering the camber wear, i got about 5 thousand miles out of them, and had a good bit of fun. They're noisy and look like shit. I would much rather chew them up tomorrow and replace next week if they pass tech. Will these worn ones pass tech? ![]() ![]() Thanks, |

I've only done a few autocross events and have done tons and tons of reading (Still need to read tons and tons more). I've also taken an Evo class so i'm well on my way. I've also come to appreciate our Prius tires as they've really helped improve my driving but also a big weakness for our cars. I'm currently planning on buying some parts over winter in time for next season.
I'm looking for some feedback and have some questions on my planned setup. Please correct me if you see something terribly wrong! -RS3s on some 17x8 wheels. On the Prius tires, I've been doing 35 psi front and 33 rear and they've felt very good, should I do the same with the new tires? -RCE Springs with Koni struts/shocks. I'm thinking of setting the rear dampers softer than the front. Or partial stiff all around (one turn or so?). -Crash bolts and maybe something for the rear too (probably an LCA). The springs will only lower the car 20mm, so maybe that is enough negative camber for the front? I still don't know what to do with rear camber. -Sway bars: I already have some hotchkis adjustable front and rears. Fronts are on highest of two settings (630 lbs/in, 245 % Stiffer than Stock) and Rears are on lowest of 4 (320 lbs/in, 200 % Stiffer than Stock). Car feels pretty good and (from my newbie analysis) feels like I get less oversteer. I'm also praying that Nameless doesn't release their headers until mid summer next year, or else my wallet ain't gonna be happy. Is there anything i'm missing?

Since I don't think oil coolers are going to happen for us and I do plan to track my car I am thinking of running an off the shelf oil cooler kit (haven't looking into it enough to figure out what I like best) and running dry release fittings on the sandwich plate. Install for a track day and disconnect for National events. Thoughts? Price is going to the the only negative.
Fittings for reference:
