Hey Jive,

For the KW coilovers, assuming I run the same wheel setup as you, what do I tell my bodyshop guy to do? I've never installed coilovers before, so forgive this question if it seems really stupid.

Do I ask him to drop it a specific height? And do I mention camber to him as well?

Jive,

I read road and track's brz project car article where they received a tune with a new exhaust system.

They mentioned that the throttle map was also changed to a more linear response from a curved throttle response.

Did you experience the same thing with your tune? How is the driveability now?

no stupid questions here!

i really dont have a measurement for how much to drop the car, but basically you put them in, and you have to let them settle anyway. so set it somewhere in the middle, drive around for a a couple hundred miles THEN do an alignment and finalize the height. they will drop/settle quite a bit.

its a test and tune type of thing. since every car is different you gotta go car by car...

i read that article too, and i literally do not have any of their "issues". the car feels great, the throttle is crisp and response is instant. i really dont have any thing bad to say so far, loving it. its amazing what a tune does to wake the car up.

also the nameless car was an OTS map, not dyno tuned so i feel like they didn't work any kinks out as the article states. i was on the dyno for a little while here.

What do you mean by set it somewhere in the middle? Sorry haha, this really is my first time with coilovers. Anything I should say to my guy, like "drop it X inches" or anything? Any suggestions?

Also, what about camber?

Haha, thanks a million!

Basically put them on just as they come out of the box. Then mess with the drop after they settle

what wheels are you trying to fit? do you DD the car or is it a weekend car. etc etc.

set it in the middle as in, when you take the coilover out of hte box, set the height of hte perch in the middle of the threads. so dont put it on the lowest setting. let the suspension settle for a few hundred miles then set the height that you would want it to be at.

i'm running -2 camber all around. some say thats a bit aggressive for a DD but i love it, my tires aren't wearing unevenly. just rotate them ever other oil change.

It would be my DD, and I'd be running the same setup as you for the wheels. I just can't go with anything else after following this build thread all year.

@Jive: Don't know if I should congratulate you on going to law school or not! I'm a lawyer in Florida. Been doing it for 4 years and love it. What area are you planning to practice in?

Car looks great. I was in IWSTI, just traded my STi in on a brand new 13 SWP BRZ Limited. Planning similar modifications as I don't have any desire to add more power. Car reminds me a lot of my old FD RX-7s. Just minus the power output. Subscribing to your thread on here as well.

Graduated from Florida State University College of Law. I work as a prosecutor. I've done a couple other areas, Insurance Defense, PI stuff. 2L year is the roughest usually, then you'll be bored your entire 3L year. They really should change the curriculum in law school to include a year long internship for the third year. You will find that you don't know anything about being a lawyer until you work as one. The schooling only teaches you how to research and "think." I am in court every day and I've tried over 75 jury trials. I'm in a specialized division here for the worst repeat offenders. Fun job. Pay isn't the greatest but it is the most fulfilling work.

i though about being a prosecutor, but i get enraged with people, i'd literally throw the book at them every time

i worked at a pursonal injury firm all summer. drafting motions, complaints, etc etc. while the money they made was great, i couldn't do it. The customers they deal with would make me go insane, people want everything NOW and dont understand the legal process at all.

3l year i'm going to try to get a judicial externship. we have a pro-bono requirement to graduate law school. have to have atleast 50 hours. this externship fullfills it, plus i get to work with a judge for a semester.

the over hanging cloud isn't what job to get, its the damn student loans from law school. i came out of undergrad with nothing serious...but law school is another animal man.

where in florida btw, my best friend moved down to florida a few years ago, i think he is like 40 minutes outside miami.

I'm in Northeast Florida. Law school debt sucks. I'm doing the Public Loan Forgiveness by working in public sector for 10 years to have all the fed loan debt forgiven. Good program for those who want to do this work. I plan to run for judicial office in another 5 years.
