Corvette Stingray reviews out

The embargo is lifted today, and reviews can be found at the usual locations. From what I have seen so far GM has a winner on its hands - incredible tech, but drives like a proper sports car, not like a GTR.

Sounds glorious: (Youtube embedding broken ATM).

I think the tail lights on the Corvette look a lot better than the Camaro's; plus the square-4 set-up was used on a previous Corvette design. But looks are subjective. By the way, the 2014 Camaro's have straight tail lights now.

That said, I'm glad Chevy hit a home-run on the Corvette (from what I've been reading on reviews). It would be the car I would drive if I had 50k to spend on a car. Long-time Corvette fan. Would probably still have my 5th gen Camaro if not for my recent move and the wife losing her job

I was happily onboard until I read it weighed 3444 lbs!!

What the hell Chevy. The C6 Vettes were in the 3100-3200 lbs range.

Agreed, I think unless they do something drastic with the c7 performance models or bring the c8 out a whole lot different I will still like the c6 style 100 times better.

It's actually only about 100 lbs heavier than the comparable C6 model - about a 3% increase, hardly monumental. And the weight distribution is improved to a slight rear bias.

I have to see one in person first before I make any full judgements, but it looks pretty good from the pictures I've seen.

I can't wait until the performance editions start coming in

All the extra tech, 60% stiffer chassis, and most of all EPA ratings are to blame.

This isnt a true performanxe version, so seeing it for what it is I think its a nice upgtade to a C6.

Yeah certainly a nice upgrade to the C6, but seeing that 3444 lbs figure made me do a double-take. I thought I had read somewhere that the C7s would save weight, not gain it.

The aluminum chassis is much lighter. But as has been said, all the interior upgrades, the DI system, and all the other new features added weight back. If not for the aluminum chassis, it would have been a very heavy car (for a corvette anyway). This is the problem with sports cars in this age; between the current safety requirements (that are only increasing) and the demands for the interior quality, you're just not going to get much lighter. That's why Chevy has to make something like the new Z/28 Camaro where they strip all that crap off to save weight, then throw a bigger engine in (because...racecar).

I am anxious to see what do with the Z06 model of the C7, if it's even called that.

Disappointing numbers. I expected it to break into the 11s. I'd still take one though

3444 for the C7 is still a disappointment, I was hoping for a 3200 lb. base model

Gotta agree... When I was reading a possible 10% overall weight savings over the C6, I knew that was outright BS.
