Is there actually such a big difference on our cars using 94? I have the OFT Stage 1 on 91, would i see a difference on 93 tune?
I once tried 94 on my stage 2 wrx and felt no difference and went back to Shell 91.

haha, yeah Airmiles for the win!
I've been using strictly Shell gas on all my cars for 10+ years.

One note though, when I lived in Ukraine for 2 months, the Shell stations had way higher octanes. I never understood why Shell doesn't offer a higher Octane in Canada. Like Shell 91 in Ukraine was the lowest grade fuel lol. They don't even have anything lower 91.

Cant comment on stage 1. I'm on OFT stage 2 + TRD intake + UEL OFH + TRD exhaust. Definitely noticeable in my setup. Sounds way meaner too :o

The only difference between the 91 and 93 OTS OFT tunes are timing above 4500 RPM or so. So whether or not you feel it depends if you're WOT constantly in that range.

The difference is about 5hp give or take and some more torque in 4.5k+ RPM range.
Ukraine and Europe uses completely different rating system - RON vs AKI (here in North America). 91AKI here is 95-96RON there so I highly doubt 95-96 was the lowest grade there as usually it is around 80-82 there which is below 87 here. 93 octane here is 98 in Europe, 94 is a bit higher.

The manual clearly states that the recommended octane fuel is 93. and 91 is only to be used for emergency.

I agree. The torque dip feels much worse on 91 octane especially during hot summer months. But now I'm flashed to 93 tune so I can't use 91 anyway.

What fuel are you running on 93 tune? I'm getting a little knock on 91 tune with ultra 94.

At what RPM/engine load?

From my once-anal logging days, I found rock solid IAM = 1.0 on Ultra94 with 93 OTS tune

I just switched to 94. I was getting knock on 91 (kinda expected) so I filled up with 94. The first couple logs were good but I just notice my IAM dropped to .88 today. I will do a few logs to see what going on this weekend.

Really? I'm also running Petro Ultra 94 fuel. It was pretty hot today and I was stuck in traffic for a while. As soon as the traffic cleared I was flooring it up to the redline. Intake temp hit 140 degrees Fahrenheit but IAM stayed at 1.0. And that's with the OFT 93 octane tune.

How long ago did you make the switch to 94? Maybe there's still a bit of 91 that threw it off?

Before I flashed my car I also ran Shell 91 with Lucas octane booster. That ran much better than just 91 alone. Maybe try some booster with the 94 and see if that helps your IAM?
