Your crickets are broken in! They no longer have stage fright and want to sing out their hearts!

They don't notice the chirp. They simply look at the car, then look at you, then flash that kind of smile.

If they do notice the chirp just tell them that you had hose leak and all you had on hand to patch it with was $100 bills and now they are caught in a belt. That should get you "that kind of smile".

They don't notice the chirp? Hell, they don't notice the car. If a chick notices, beware.

Considering she could eat a couple burgers, I'm guessing you're pretty cute.

Nothing but "crickets" in Austin as well

Cool

About 2 months back, I had taken my car to the dealership to get the crickets looked at. Was originally told that this was only a problem with earlier models, and my 2015 couldn't be experiencing the same issue. I started it up for him, and he quickly changed his mind. Last week, I topped up with Petro Canada 94 and thought I had driven into a cricket apocalypse. It sounded like this: [ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZQucyweuWXY"]VID 20150812 204059 - YouTube[/ame]

This was totally unacceptable in my eyes, so I started asking friends if they had any ideas. A guy I know who owns a Maserati suggested that it was probably the ethanol in the gasoline that was causing the chirping sound, and suggested I give Shell V-Power a try. Last night I had finally emptied my car and filled it with Shell, and the crickets were gone. Damn you ethanol, damn you.

tl;dr North American companies put ethanol in their gas to dilute it, and this probably causes the crickets. If you have crickets, get as close to empty as you can and fill up at Shell.

You are about 4,265 post late with that newsflash on this thread alone.
I do agree that most of the time it works, but not always, so don't be disappointed if they pop up every once in a while.
The ethanol is not in there are some sort of conspiracy to "dilute" gas but is actually a valuable additive to modern engines. Our pumps just don't like it (or love it maybe).

Either that, or they do love it and that is the sound of their satisfied purr....

Shell V-power is much more expensive compared to Chevron's highest octane, at least around here - sometimes by 20-30 cents or more! Sure, its only 3 dollars in the grand scheme of things those 3 dollars can be put to better use for me.

I'm living with the crickets, they come and they go. I haven't heard them since the weather cooled down.

Crickets were mostly quiet this year for me, until we got some unbearable humidity and heat. Last night when I came home, the crickets were all rage. Shell 91 no ethanol. Like TCoat said, its not that clear cut. Most of the time it does help, sure, with few fillups of PetroCanada they were going nuts even in cold weather, so I avoid it.

Chirping fix

I don't know if anyone posted this so I will. The majority of FR-S / BRZ owners have Jiminy Cricket living in their cars. If you'd like it to stop, even though the dealerships all say it's not a problem, there is a remedy. Eric from Velox Motorsports told me this and he has been doing it for over 8,000 miles. Take it for what it's worth. Upon filling up, throw 3.0 ounces of 2 stroke oil in your gas tank. After the first time, only use about 1.5 ounces with every fill up and Jiminy will be banished for all time. I've done it for about the last 5 fills and have heard a peep out of him.

2 weeks ago, the light came on as i pulled out of my driveway when i was headed to work, a 36 mile round trip. Ended up filling it back up with 12.219 gallons that afternoon.

Not gonna lie, it was a little uncomfortable seeing the needle laying on the "E"
