With the front lip there are still plenty of curbs I angle at just to be safe. I definitely don't need to go crazy like the truly dropped cars but it's always better safe than sorry.

awesome, so without a lip i pretty have have no problems 80% of the time then.

and since you're from socal too, it's good to know haha.

one more question. correct me if im wrong, but i want to know if the 18s sti wheels made the car feel slower? but if i read your build thread correctly, you got a tune before you threw the 18s on so im guessing that kinda made up for it if there were any negative effects

Well keep in mind I also don't drive the brz often to places where I know the curbs and dips are larger .

Throwing on the 18s added weight due to both wheels and tires, but yeah it was offset by some other mods that were added later, namely getting it tuned on e85, the carbon driveshaft, and the reinforced rear axles.

Small change to the interior, courtesy as always from JPM Coachworks. Picked up this one-off gauge cluster hood:

Forgot to post this earlier, but here's a video Auto Tuned made when I was getting the Cusco sway bars installed.

[ame="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zi5FO_f2VUs"]Auto Tuned : Subaru BRZ tS Build - YouTube[/ame]

We'll likely be making a few more for my car in the near future as I will be having the following work done:

Spark plug service (oh joy)
STI engine mounts
STI tS rear subframe
STI rear subframe mounts
STI differential mounts

Saw it first here, but I am digging the design. They should make it standard.

hi there, more questions sorry :p

i know sti springs drop about 1/2". and i know you have different shocks to go with the sti springs. does that combo drop the car more? or is it still dropped 1/2". because for some reason your pictures show your wheel gap less than some other brz with the sti springs. other brz with sti springs still have a huge wheel gap, especially in the rear.

thanks man!

It shouldn't. The drop remains the same at 15mm (about 0.6"). The reason you're seeing less wheel gap is most likely due to having the 18" version of the STi wheels versus the 17" that comes on the series.blue.

Hey Derek,

Novice question here but,

what exactly does the Subframe assembly do for the BRZ? What are the benefits and/or costs if any?

Thanks,

Thanks,

Stiffens the overall rear assembly, decreasing potential movement in that area. It not only increases overall responsiveness, but decreases drivetrain loss from the engine to the rear wheels. The trade off is a less comfortable ride.

Hey Derek, quick question:

Did your tS suspension come with the STi stickers for the Showa shocks?
I ordered a set from jp but I seem to be missing them.

Thanks

Yeah it should come with a full set in a separate, small bag (I think it was packaged with the instructions).

Joined that signed car club lol. Had the car signed by Chief Designer of the 86, Takayasu Furukawa. I'll make sure to get Tada-san's signature next time .
