If the alternator is working properly and the battery lost power, I'd suggest you get a NEW battery. Life is too short to screw around with a weak battery.

The next time you could be stranded in OAKLAND! -

Aluminum reaches that point more gradually. Feels more squishy.
In my case it was compounded by the fact I didn't clean the bolt holes in the head good enough.

I hope not. I got it running, drove around for an hour to try charging up the battery. Going to try starting the car first thing tomorrow and hope it's good, but most likely I'll try to warranty the battery because it's only 1.5 years old :\

Hope you didn't leave, a nice young lady with a WRX was able to jump my car in 3 minutes after I'd been waiting for "Subaru roadside assistance"'s third party to help me and never showed after 2.5 hours. Fucking assholes.

Well, spike021, I hope it does start for you in the morning, but don't be surprised if it doesn't. When a battery is run down, the alternator (i.e. driving it around) will NOT charge the battery completely up. Only a battery charger will do that. The alternators job is just to replace the battery charge that is used during normal operation.

If you have a volt meter, I suggest you test the battery yourself:

https://www.aa1car.com/library/battery_runs_down.htm

If you don't, I suggest you have the battery load tested and the alternator tested (any battery place can do those things).

However, I'd still have the battery replaced … unless you knowingly ran the battery down (like left the lights on).

So, did you offer to take the pretty girl out for supper for helping you?

Ah, yeah that's a good point. Regardless, going to try seeing if I can get it replaced under warranty. I would assume warranty is 2-3 years on car batteries from factory? Will need to look into it a bit.

But if worst comes to worse I'll just need to buy a new one at Costco or something.

Nah, I didn't lol.
