Gaming laptop died playing Half Life 2. No BSOD, just turned off and never turned back on. So I had to barter some things and ended up selling one of my pistols to fund a new GPU for my desktop. Ended up getting a 7800XT. Upside is, the 7800XT is a pretty good card. Downside is, I had to sell one of my more expensive firearms to fund it. Other good news is the Cat is doing good now!

No power lights from the charger or where it plugs into the laptop?
I assume tried a known working outlet.

RAM stick could have died.
Charger could have died.
Charging port on the laptop could have died.

Just about anything else I would have gotten rid of it like you did.
But since you went for a GPU I also assume the laptop wasn't a must have thing.

Gee, I hate to tell you but I'm still using my Asus ROG G75V from like 2008.
https://www.notebookcheck.net/Asus-G75V.74684.0.html
I stopped using it as my main gaming system around 2015 but as a back up to run a second account to play off line it's fine.
The battery is toast so it's plugged in permanently and I have an Acer 19 inch 60htz as my second screen sitting just behind and above the laptop's screen. This is my main communications hub, surf machine and what ever else I'm doing piece of hardware.
Not sure how it's gonna like switching to Window$10. I'm told I can still do a free upgrade to 10 seeing as everyone is pulling the plug on 7 the end of December.

It kind of was as it was my work computer also haha. But I just removed the SSD. And yeah, the light comes on from the charging port, but all it does is the screen gives a flicker and never turns on. nor do the fans.

I love Windows 10. I do not like 11 and that's what my laptop had. Also, how that computer still works is amazing. Apparently the G14 Zephyrus do have issues of just dying. So guess I got unlucky.

Tried the new WRC and it was meh. Felt as if the cars didn't have any weight at all. Then I re-discovered a true rally gem. Complete rework of Richard Burns Rally by some dudes from Hungary. New physics, lots of stages and cars. I played original RBR about 12 years ago, that was cool, but this Rallysimfans.hu version is truly awesome.

That trailer made me feel like I was watching a rally game with the Doom soundtrack

Also, I've heard mix reviews about the new WRC, which is why I'm holding off on it. But you basically have to do that with any modern AAA game these days....

I've recently been playing Red Dead Redemption 2, probably about 15 hours in and while it's a decent open world/RPG I'm not sure what all the hype was about.

Way too much time riding a horse back and forth, and pretty much every time I talk to someone I end up in a gunfight despite trying to play "the quasi good guy" path.

My sons tell me it's just slow in the beginning and gets better. Fingers crossed.
